I wasn’t expecting much from this knife but was surprised by the quality. This is a yanagi, a single beveled knife for slicing fish. It’s unusual to see this style of knife in this price range. The blade itself was quite sharp out of the box and the fit and finish were good. On the downside, the handle is rather heavy so combined with the blade geometry, this is definitely not a knife for beginners. Because the steel is relatively low hardness for this type of blade it also isn’t a good option for heavy use situations (like a pro kitchen) as it will need frequent sharpening to keep the blade sharp enough. Overall, this is an excellent budget yanagi.
