We all rely to some degree on product reviews by purchasers who share their opinion on the product performance. But when some purchasers are naive and don’t really know how to use a product and fail to read the directions, posting a negative review that give false and misleading information about the product, the rest of us are left thinking the product is deficient in some way.
I have used Taylor scales for over 40 years and find them to be reliable instruments. I purchased this Taylor Kitchen Scale (22-Pound/10-Kilogram) to use in weighing dressed chicken after they’ve been butchered and processed. I’ve now ordered a second for use with vegetables and other items inside my home. Out of the box, I zeroed out the scale, then placed the stainless steel tray and brought it to tare – zero. I then proceeded to weigh a two pound pkgs of butter and three one pound pkg of butter. Each time the scale read perfectly, 2# and 3#. As for those who seem to think the scale is flimsy…they fail to understand the weighing mechanism is spring loaded and is designed to recoil until the spring tension settles at which point you take a weight reading. Some people have even complained the tray falls off. Well the tray has an imprint of the scale platform that actually makes it quite steady. You cannot “plop” some thing into the tray while on the scale platform and expect nothing would happen. Depending on the force of the “Plopped” item you could actually cause enough recoil in the spring to bounce the item off. These are all user issues and not quality issues with the scale. I find it to be precise enough for a non-trade scale, made by Taylor I would expect it to last for years to come but I’ll need to be careful with how I handle it. It’s a great scale, I like the large print dial and also the KG multiple reading. See my pics below…Don’t hesitate to buy.

This is a very inexpensive scale. The plastic is a bit thin, and the tray only sits on top of it. With that said, it seems to be more than adequate as an entry level scale. I expect it to work for my needs indefinitely assuming I don’t drop it. I like that this scale doesn’t need batteries. I’ve used this scale for measuring flour, and meat so far. I take the steel pan off and use measuring cups for measurements other than meat. The scale is stable if you put whatever it is you’re measuring as close to center as possible (which is how you should use any scale…) On the down side my fingers don’t fit where the adjustment screw is located, so adjusting the scale is a but difficult. (I have huge fingers…)

Great for measuring pool chemicals using a four cup measuring device.

The “0” dial has to be checked each time, normally have to adjust, then it seems to work well. But would have to adjust again after cleaning.

I use this everyday, although i regret buying it i still use it because i don’t want to waste money, the needle if floppy no matter how you adjust it, if accuracy is not important then you might find this equipment acceptable, if i needed to weigh anything accurate i would have to use another scale, with this in mind i would not buy this again !
