Pro Tip: Use a baster to remove hot grease when cooking up ground beef.Best thing ever!!I like using 80/20 meat because the flavor is always better, but I want as little of the fat to get through to the meal as possible. With this, once browned, I spatula the meat to one side and lean the pan off the burner (turned off) and then I can suck up all the grease in 10 seconds and transfer to grease can instead of trying to spoon it out or dump it in a messy strainer that dumps grease into my drain.Regarding the product itself, it does seem thin, so must be protected when not in use and I know from experience that quickly heating/cooling glass isn’t the best thing (can cause breakage) so I run it under warm/hot water before using. It’s been working great so far, but at this price, I’d buy a few and not worry about it – it works sooo well.

Glass is bossI had a glass baster I used for at least 5 years about 10 years ago and was unable to replace it at that time. I am thrilled to get this one because it looks and performs as well as my original one. Glass is easier to clean and does not split from hot liquids as plastic does.

Best baster on the market!I didn’t just buy this, I’ve had it a couple years. Would strongly recommend if you fix turkey and don’t want it dry!!

Great Suction; Lousy Holding Power3/5 — gets the job done, but only justThese have great suction, but they do a lousy job of holding the liquid, even while keeping the bulb pressed. I love that these are glass (I hate the idea of grabbing steaming hot liquid with…plastic) and they definitely work, but I’ll always wonder if I should have spent a few more dollars to get something that works better.Cleaning is tricky: the body is too skinny for all the bottle brushes I have and the nipple is too skinny for all but one of my brushes for reusable straws. So instead, I’ve cut up a handi-wipe and use one of the straw-brushes to drag it through. It’s clumsy and inconvenient.I’ve tried cleaning it in the dishwasher and the inside never gets clean.

Great glass basterThis product is great – but not perfect. The suction could be a little better, but I understand it may be hard to get a tight seal on slick glass. It cleans well but the key is that you plug the bottom and immediately fill it with a drop of soap and hot water, swirl and flush to premise before any grease settles in. We put the glass piece in the silverware caddy of the dishwasher, and the top goes on the top rack over one of the dishwasher spikes. Heated dry hasn’t affected performance. Overall, does that job (we use to get the grease when browning meat) well and we’d repurchase immediately if ours broke.

Shipper packed it improperly/Easy cleaning tipStar rating is for baster, no how it was shipped. This baster is glass. The item was in its original thin box packaging. Then the shipper put it in a loose bubble wrap bag…no air bags inside it to protect it. The baster’s box was crushed inside when I opened it, but luckily the baster was not broken. I suggest you ship it to people in a sturdy box, not a bag. This is my second baster. The first one arrived in a sturdy box. A family member just loved the glass baster at Thanksgiving so I bought her one. We are giving kitchen items this year and I am grateful this one arrived all in one piece and on time for Christmas. A standard bottle brush won’t fit inside for cleaning, so I used dishwashing soap and a plastic drinking straw and the baster came out clean!

Better than plastic.I’ve always seen my mom use a plastic one at Thanksgiving and it made me cringe, so Ibought her glass this year.It opens at the top so it’s a little flimsy, though it also makes it much easier to clean.

Very Thin-Walled GlassI bought this to replace a flimsy plastic baster that had cracked from very slight use. I fear I have bought another flimsy article that will break again. The glass is extremely thin, I’m not expecting this baster to last very long.

Two Basters Are Better Than OneI purchased two of these right before Thanksgiving so that if one broke, I’d have a back up. I ended up just double fisting that mo-fo turkey so it reduced time out of the oven. Worked well, no complaints there. I love that the baster tube is glass. I didn’t have significant problems with broth dripping out as mentioned in other reviews, but a little more than a little did drip out, but that happens with the other basters I’ve had. The only thing I don’t like is that the rubber bulb stinks, literally and figuratively. The rubber is off-gassing something fierce and makes me leery of using it with food. It doesn’t quite have the suction power as the old Oxo did and seems too small for the length and diameter of the tube, which may seem why it leeks for others. That said, I did buy two, I would buy them again but may look into Frankensteining the tube together with a bulb from a different baster. This would easily be a 5 star item if the bulb were larger and silicone. Happy roasting/meth cooking, or whatever the hell it is you folks that buy this with naphthalene and sodium hydroxide are making. Seriously, don’t buy shit for making illegal stuff on Amazon unless you really enjoy jail. I suppose if you’re using this baster for making drugs, this is easily a 4 star baster.
