Never did I feel like I was coming close to breaking the gun by …I really can’t think of a thing I’d suggest they improve. I put this to use for the first time about an hour ago. After reading some of the reviews, I expected to be working up a sweat and gritting my teeth to get the hamburger to poop out the gun. Not so at all. For those having difficulty getting the meat to squeeze out of the gun, I have a suggestion: Thaw the meat first, you idiots!I used 93/7 hamburger that had never been frozen. A friend told me that the leaner hamburger was less likely to clog the gun. It worked out very well. I mixed a packet of seasoning and the cure packet that came with the seasoning with 3 pounds of hamburger. I then used my hands to shape the hamburger into logs that were approximately the same diameter of the tube and about 1/2 its length. Leaving the flat nozzle attached to the tube, I simply dropped my logs into the tube. Squeezing the hamburger from the tube took very little effort. I used a butter knife to more cleanly break the strips into the appropriate lengths for my dehydrator.Never did I feel like I was coming close to breaking the gun by the effort needed to extrude the hamburger. Cleanup was very simple as the unit didn’t really get that dirty. A little dish soap and a scratchy sponge and it was done in less than 3 minutes.I’m a normal guy with pretty much ZERO culinary experience or skill. A big day in the kitchen for me normally consists of putting extra cheese on the frozen pizza I’m baking in the oven. Honestly, the only reason I even own a dehydrator is that I use it to dry the brass from after I wet tumble my brass to clean it prior to reloading ammunition. Don’t worry, I cleaned the dehydrator trays before using them for my hamburger jerky. If the jerky turns out tasty, I’ll be thrilled because I’m trying to eat a low carb diet and hamburger jerky will be convenient and far less expensive than the jerky I can buy at the store.

Easy Operation, But TEST FIT ALL PIECES UPON RECEIPT!This is my 2nd Jerky Gun. The 1st one was a SUPER-CHEAP model I got just to see if I was going to like doing jerky this way. After the 1st gun fell apart I ordered this one in case my “repair” to the 1st didn’t hold up.When I received this one I was impressed with the construction, it was definitely more robust than the other one I had purchased. This one completely disassembles for easy and thorough cleaning. Initially, I DID NOT TEST FIT ALL THE PIECES TOGETHER. The gun was cleaned and put away until I was ready to make my next batch of turkey jerky. To my dismay, when I was setting up I discovered that the opening on the nozzle retaining ring was too narrow by more than 1/8″ to fit the nozzles supplied with the gun. Perhaps, there was some changes in the model and some older model parts got mixed with new… I don’t know. Well, my solution was too enlarge the opening of the retaining ring. To do this I used a drum sander attachment in my drill press to slowly and evenly enlarge the opening to fit the nozzles (took 5-10 minutes). Normally, I would’ve contacted the manufacture and had them send replacement parts out. However, it was Sunday and I was getting ready to run the smoker so I just fixed it myself. This should not be the case and the reason the product didn’t earn 5-Stars.Once my gun fit together properly (and everything was rewashed), I was VERY PLEASED with the overall operation. It was very easy to use, required little effort to shoot the jerky. The plunger cleanly pushes the jerky right out. I do wish they included a packing tool to aid in loading the tube, but it wasn’t too bad. In the end I am very happy with this purchase!

Great buy easy to use worth your timeSo happy I finally bought this tool! It only takes about 4 hours or a little less to cook, before rolling meat myself made the meat take longer like 6 hours, Plus cutting it into strips a lot of the scraps would be waste of meat and now it cuts prepping time in half and also the finishing time in half and I can cook 4-5 pounds in a day versus only being able to cook one pound a day and I got a really good Price on the gun…. as far as cleaning it it’s not a big deal really easy..placing the meat into the gun can be a little challenge because it gets air in it but I just put my palm to cover on one side and put my finger in the other and kind of move the meat around to get the air out to add more room for meat. I would have to load it about three times for 1 pound worth and it doesn’t bother me but I use all four of my racks but before I would only use three racks so i was probably making it too thick when I was rolling it myself so I definitely highly recommend the gun …you have other choices of getting a bigger gun but for now since it’s my first gun I just wanted to stick with the the price range and size.

Well worth the small investmentAs a newbie when it comes to jerky making I was in search of the best tool to maximize my turn-around time and labor in making hamburger (beef) jerky and in the near future venison burger jerky. I have made a couple of batch’s of Beef Jerky with hamburger using a very manual method and it works fine but it takes a lot of time.I researched several jerky guns and despite a couple of negative reviews on the Lem gun (which I don’t understand after using the one I bought) I bought the Lem. After a few minutes of practice I was in love with it. Simple and easy. I did have to adjust my own way of loading the tube, rolling out a log of ground meat just did not seem to work out for me. Instead loading the tube with a spoon and packing it down works a charm. If you have ever used a caulk gun you can use this thing. Clean up is not to bad. I used a tooth brush in the hard to clean places in the push rod assembly and had no need for anything special to clean out the grooves. Obviously you want to make sure to do a really good clean up with anything dealing with meat and I see no issues with being able to clean the inner workings on the unit. I will come back after 4 or 5 batch’s and update if I find anything that I feel needs to be commented on. However, for the money the quality of the construction and the simplicity of the unit seems to make it well worth the money and it certainly has justified the expense as far as my time is concerned.

Works Great! Make Beef Jerky Yourself!I have recently started making beef jerky and bought this gun to use along with my dehydrator to make ground meat jerky. This gun is very solid quality and it is well made. It feels like a quality tool and has a very solid plastic handle. It is very easy to clean when done, with the one exception I have noticed. Perhaps it’s just my experience only, but the tip, where it pushes up against the meat when making jerky, has a locking nut on it that holds a plastic plate or plunger that pushes the meat out. This plate seems to collect a bit of material on it, more concerning under it, so I have removed this nut to clean under the plastic plunger just to be sure each time as when working with raw meat, you want to be ultra sanitary. Other than that one thing, it seems to be an awesome tool for making jerky. I have made about 20-30lbs (raw meat weight) with it so far. A tip I learned watching a online video, if you have a round dehydrator then either have a friend spin the dehydrator trays as you put the jerky onto the trays or get a rotating cake decorating tray to set the dehydrator trays on, then you can apply the meat to the trays in a circular fashion around each tray, thereby getting a lot more jerky into a single dehydrator without more trays. This also drastically increases the speed of adding the meat to the trays and keeps your trays so much cleaner. Buy this and you will make great jerky!

Durable, well made, quality!Just started making homemade beef jerky after getting a dehydrator for Christmas. My very first batch I hand rolled like a Slim Jim but it was difficult and tedious and the portions were inconsistent so I bought this jerky gun after reading several reviews and so glad I did! Using this jerky gun cuts the time I would have wasted hand rolling by 80% and all the pieces are perfect portions and consistent. Clean up is super easy and it’s very easy to take apart and put back together and basically screwing and unscrewing the barrel is the only part you have to mess with. Very pleased with this and I believe it is a definite must have!

Awesome Device!I saw a video by 2 krazy ketos on making ground beef jerky using this Jerky Gun and had to have it! They showed how to assemble and use it – I just went right for it and made up my first pound of jerky today! It was easy to assemble, use and disassemble and clean. It reminds me a lot if using a caulking gun lol. I recommend getting a round sponge bottle cleaner to clean the tube with. I happened to have one and it made cleaning much easier to wash all surfaces. I am looking forward to making lots of jerky with this Jerky Gun!
