Great for making venison snack sticks

Does the job and much better than the sausage stuffer that comes with meat grinders.
Things to Note:
A. Definitely a Two person operation
B. Make sure to take it completely apart when cleaning – I noticed meat tended to leak through behind the plunger.
C. I had to add some vegetable oil to the moving parts to stop them from squeaking.

It’s a perfect sausage maker for making a small beach of sausage. From 1 lb of pork meat (20% fat) you can make 6 sausages

Well worth the money. Not an all stainless beauty but surprisingly lightweight and works better than ANY grinder, especially when working with a finer grind. I bought this after the last time I did a finer (burger) grind on pork and ended up with emulsified mush when stuffing because the auger on the grinder wouldn’t push the meat. I’ve made a lot of sausages for a long time and have had this happen before, but not to this extent. Yes, the meat was very cold and proper techniques were followed and even my pro model grinder bombed out. Some meat is just mushier.
Do yourself a favor and skip the 2 lb model for the 5 lb. You may be OK with less than 2 lb batches for now but odds are very high that’ll change, especially when others taste the results and start asking you to be their sausage maker.
I’m able to get every last speck of meat into the casings with this stuffer. There’s little left to start with, unlike a grinder. Take a wooden dowel that fits the tube closely, start the small amount of meat that didn’t make it down the chute (like the old days when sausages were stuffed with funnels), then push it through the tube with the dowel. The smallest one takes a 1/2″ dowel, then 5/8″, 3/4″, and 7/8″.
Two glaring improvements for the manufacturer to address: The supplied clamp needs to be at least one inch bigger and the tubes need to be longer. It’s a good move to include the clamp because the suction cup won’t work on some surfaces, but people don’t always have a table to work on. Many times it’s a countertop and the clamp won’t fit over most counters. I had one for a hand crank pasta maker that works well enough, but this really needs attention. Also, the tubes are too short to fit long lengths of casing, particularly the more rigid collagen casings. Many longer casings will allow 10 pounds in a single shot, but the tubes won’t hold that much. My grinder tubes are 1 1/2″ longer and will hold over 10 pounds worth of casing.

I use it exclusively to fill Cannolis. Filling a stiff cream with a piping bag caused hand cramps. This tool is much better and I bought a larger one. I fill 10 dozen Cavan oils in less than one half hour. That’s minis and large sizes. The tubes change out easily. No muss no fuss.

I used this for the first time yesterday, and was not sure what to expect. I found it worked really well at stuffing 1½” salami casings. It is easy to fill and the crank works nicely. The problems I found are not that bad, the instructions could be better, cleaning is a little difficult. Maybe the worst problem is the amount of meat left behind the pusher plate, over a half pound. A tighter seal on the pusher plate would be nice.

I bought this as I started my sausage-making journey due to how much advice I was getting on purchasing a separate sausage stuffer rather than using the one already part of my meat grinder. Although it worked to stuff sausages, there are some very significant problems with the product that have led to my 3 star review:
1. There are NO instructions in the box for how to assemble this sausage stuffer. Maybe for some this is no issue, but I am a beginner homemade sausage maker, and this was very difficult for me to assemble. There are so many parts that are all packed separately and can honestly fit into one another any which way. I probably fiddled around 30 minutes with it in order to have it be assembled as it should be.
2. I am not sure what material the sausage maker is made out of, but it seems as if the silver color is painted on. This is because when you screw off either cap to the main component of the sausage stuffer, the main component becomes scratched and you can see a black layer underneath it.
3. There is a LOT of meat left over in the tube that is literally impossible to try to extract. I could have made an extra, average-sized bratwurst from the amount. It ends up needing to be washed out with water in the sink and then thrown away.
4, It is VERY difficult to stuff your meat mix into the stuffer, especially if you’re trying to really squish it down so that there are no air pockets. The circumference and length are just very uncomfortable for this.
I truly think this machine makes it easier to stuff sausages than just using your meat grinder (which I have tried before), but I did not personally like this item due to its low quality. Since this is the most rated sausage stuffer on Amazon, if you are serious about becoming a homemade sausage maker, I would recommend going ahead and spending a bit more for an electric meat stuffer which will make the process much easier!

This sausage stuffer is way less expensive than most alternatives, and works way better than stuffing sausage using my meat grinder. That being said, it has some shortcomings. It comes with an assortment of stainless steel and plastic tubes, but it didn’t include the size I needed for making pepperoni sticks. The smallest diameter tube was still too large for the casing to slip on. Also, turning the handle on the stuffer while its full of ground meat is fairly difficult. It requires two hands, so I needed a helper to hold the casing and guide the sausage as the meat came out. There is a lot of pressure on the spindly handle, and I’m skeptical that it won’t break off eventually. It feels like it needs more gear reduction, which could have been easily designed into the unit. All it needs is a different gear ratio, or at least a two handed handle or wheel.
When forcing the handle down, meat comes out of the top of the plunger where there is an air vent hole. By the time the plunger reaches the bottom of its stroke, there’s a handful of meat collected on top of the plunger.
The clamp on the bottom of the unit, works well enough and it has plastic on it to protect your table from scratches.
Overall, it works well enough and got the job done for a fraction of the cost of most alternatives. Before using this stuffer I tried stuffing sausage through my meat grinder. You can affix a tube to the meat grinder, but my grinder will not push meat into a sausage casing. I had to push the meat into the grinder with a lot of force to get it to go into the casing. I could only push a little at a time, and had to constantly load more meat and push,
So this stuffer is far superior to that method.
