Gives second life to some of those Mason jars most already have. This is an ingenious little device to repurpose a new or used Mason jar. It seals well both at the lid and at the spout. The latter using an effective attached silicone plug. The only downside of its use as an oil bottle is not in this lid, but the jar itself which was never shaped for fine pouring. The square sides and overall size can make one handed pouring a bit effortful for smaller hands, especially if the hands or bottle have developed a thin layer of oil. There is a reason why most wine bottle became shaped as they are, and continue to do so, and one is reminded of that the very first time a more squat, smooth bottle is used for pouring.

An easy conversion for mason jarsWe stayed at friends, and being curious I asked about their oil bottles. They used large mason jars with a modified cover. Searching a bit, I found that this modification is readily found on Amazon. This particular offering looked good and matched our needs. I inspected it closely and realized that the design is quite clever, the rubber ring has saw tooth on the outside making it fit better inside the regular mouth mason jar ring. It is thick and won’t be crushed/folded when you tighten the top. The opening is wide, making it perfect for cooking in our camping trips. Easy to close, easy to fill, no more looking for a funnel and using tall bottles.I checked the streams (with water), checked the seal (perfect – no leak) – and the ability to easily disassemble all the parts for cleanup. No issues at all. Very functional cover repurposing a mason jar to an oil bottle.

No Leaks Here! The media could not be loaded.
This is a stainless steel and silicone insert that fits into a regular mouth mason jar band and turns your mason jar into a leak-proof pouring container! The insert fits snugly between my Ball canning jars and rings. Before putting oil in it, I tested it with water, and no leaks! As you can see in the video, it is easy to open and close with a silicone stopper and when pouring there are no leaks at all.I like that this has a stopper to keep dust and other yucky stuff out of the top of the pouring spout, unlike other similar devices I’ve used. I also like that the silicone part of the stopper seems solid and like it would be easy to clean. I’ve used similar devices where the plastic corrodes after contact with the oil, but I don’t forsee that being an issue with this one.Overall I’d recommend this! I may be giving some of these as Christmas presents!

Works! We just got a large container of walnut oil and didn’t know what to put it in so we could use it. So when I saw this oil pourer that you put on a jar, I thought: that’s great! And it does work fine. It was a little tough to actually get the metal jar lid on with this oil lid, but it worked out fine. And it doesn’t leak. Looks decent too!
