Could be better but did fairI decided I would make my son a transformer costume this year with foam board and the Etsy template I purchased said to get one of these. I figure I’ve spent twenty bucks on many other less than useful items so why not. It did the job for the most part. I found it particularly helpful to hold my foam and this tool over the edge of the table while applying a firm and steady push (right handed) and usually it glided through just fine. Although occasionally it wouldn’t completely cut through all of the way. No biggie if you have an exacto knife as this tool leaves a nice guide to show you exactly where to cut and because it was pretty much precut it goes through with ease. Overall I’m glad I got this as it made the transformer process much quicker and now I can add it to my craft supplies for future use

Buy lots of blades.Loved it. Wish I had bought the guide. Buy replacement blades as they do not last long. They were difficult to resharpen as a novice.

Updated: Does its job very well. This is a very effective and easy to use cutter. On my first attempt the cut went just a bit too deep and cut all the way through the foam board in several places. The blades were seated properly, so on my next cut I applied a slight upward pressure as I slid the cutter along the edge. This resulted in a perfect cut. Now that I know this little technique I can get to work building all my board game organizers.Update 4/8/2021: My initial review was based on using foam board that was approximately 4mm thick, which is slightly thinner than intended. Since then I purchased some 5mm thick foam board from Amazon and it is the perfect thickness for this rabbet cutter. There is simply no way to mess up a cut when using the properly sized foam board. It’s an amazing little tool.

works but would be nice if there was some way to adjust the blade depth cutI’ve used this and it works as advertised. There is an issue with cutting all the way through which would render the intended purpose of this tool unusable. There is no way to adjust the depth of the cut which would have been a great feature if it were possible to make.Quality Control between manufacturers of foam core isn’t always what it should be.It works but more often than not it cuts the piece completely off and it is not usable.

It works for its purposeThis is the first time I buy a foam board rabbet cutter, I wanted to make a costume for my kid that recommended it, I have no way of comparing it to any other cutter. It is a product that only works for one thing: cutting foam board with rabbets, and it does it pretty well. A few times, I had to help it, because it was getting a little bit stuck on some long cuts, but overall it worked, and I was able to make the rabbets. I found a little bit tricky to put the blades in… I had to look up YouTube videos in order to understand how to do it. It should come with instructions in the package.

Difficult, but possible. The cutter is difficult to use, even after getting comfortable with it over time. Lets face it, what you’re trying to accomplish is not easy. If you aren’t holding it just right, the one blade slices all the way through the foamcore’s paper, ruining your piece. So, be prepared to waste a lot of material. The build of the cutter is fine, but the plastic inside where the blade nestles in had some excess plastic from the manufacturing process and it is in the way of the blade. I had to cut and sand it myself otherwise the blade wouldn’t even sit in the cutter. Even then, it seems like it might shift around, ruining your attempt to cut. There has to be a better way to rabbet foamcore, but this is all I know of now.

Works great! This thing works great. Keep in mind that it is not adjustable, and only works on 5mm board. Other than that, it’s great. The rabbet joints are very neat, and my finished model at least, looks awesome.Yes, you can cut rabbets with other tools. A plain razor knife will work if you have to use it, but this tool is fast, neat, and accurate every time. If you want speed and consistency, this is for you.Would have been five stars if it was adjustable…but still very worth having.

Great hobby tool!Just what I needed and helps me save time with my hobbies.

Works well, but requires some force to use.Requires a bit more force than I’d love, but it does what it says it does.It demands you use a piece of foam board underneath it too…but not sure why.

Didn’t work for my projectI researched a lot and read reviews that said this would be great, but unfortunately, it did not work for my project. I bought a case of foam boards thinking this would make my job easier to connect the joints of boards, etc. However, it just sliced straight through the board with a clean cut if I put too much pressure or it just left jagged edges with less pressure. The way the video tutorial and product advertises is the reason I bought the product. I wasted about 10 foam boards to practice getting it right and the cost of the rabbet cutter was a vast lost. Amazon allowed me a full refund for the product.
