Handle should be sturdier. My only other option was the $300 China slicer, so I guess I shouldn’t complain much but there are 3 issues that need addressed. First the crank handle is very flimsy and I would dare to say it will be the first thing to fail as if you use this device on something like Daikon or sweet potato, you can feel it flexing and pushing it’s integrity to the limit. Next the laminator blade had a wider gap on one end compared to the other side. I was able to fix this with a couple of small “C” clamps. The third issue was the blade holder would not slide freely in the guide once the blade was installed , so the action when pushing it into the item being laminated was sticky or studdery. The fix for this after carefully troubleshooting the problem was to take down the blade plastic holder edges on bothe sides approximately 2 mm. Now it slides freely with no striction. Again for $50 bucks you can’t expect much more.

It works with watching the video a couple of times.Written directions are on the box so the video is necessary. I had to stop it and look at the lock turning side from the handle. You have to push it in harder then I thought. Then it works perfectly. The only problem is getting it out. I will need my husband around until it loosens up enough for me to be able to use it. Unless their is a trick I have not figured out yet. I do like how it sliced. Have not tried the other parts yet.

Don’t waste your moneyAbsolute junk! I never got it to work.and ended up just throwing it away. Every time I tried to get veggie or fruit on spindle it split and even if I got it on you couldn’t even skin the food before it pushed the food off the spindle. I tried using it multiple times with different fruits and vegetables. ABSOLUTE JUNK!

Everything but the skewerAt my first try the metal skewer twisted while cutting a carrot. The blade wasn’t angled properly so it wasn’t cutting at first and with just a bit of force it twisted. I have to push the blade up with my fingers before it start cutting. Once it starts moving, it will make nice slice and cuts. Now I need to figure out how to straighten the skewer and hope it won’t twist again. Metal if softer than it should since it is the main part that turns the item being cut.

Cheap and flimsyReally excited by this product to be able to add more plant forward items to my diet. Was going to make beet noodles. Put the product on the skewer and the skewer on the machine. Following the directions after three rotation the skewer failed and twisted. For $62 I would expect a higher quality product. It’s cheap plastic the blades are not sharp enough.Oh by the way I’m a professional chef of 38 years. This is a great idea, maybe use more substantial materials

This is a very easy to use spiralizerSpiralizing vegetables or slicing them is great it allows you to take an otherwise boring vegetable or fruit and use it in a creative and fun way that keeps the whole family involved.Personally I have my 6 year old kindergartener turning the crank to convert potatoes into crazy potatoes that we will then air fry and all enjoy together. This particular set includes blades that easily click in and out and can be thrown in the dishwasher and it is also fairly compact.Highly recommended.

The idea behind this unit is great, but the function is not so good.Having a unit like this is nice thoughts, but the problem is that it does not work well with a lot of the items that I was going to produce. Normally, you would think that it would be easy, but it is not that easy to use and the care that you take in producing product should be easy, this is not.I would recommend looking at another product. Some of the people who have used this thought that it was very good, they must be very talented since I could not.

Not ready for prime time. The Zyliss Smoothslizer Vegetable Pasta Maker and Spiralizer with 3 Interchangeable Blades requires some time to read and figure out the directions. Things don’t seem to snap into place as easily as you would expect, so extra care must be taken around the blades. This definitely gets more user friendly with practice. You need a smooth surface to suction the bottom to, and it holds well. This little machine failed when I first tried to slice a butternut squash into lasagna style sheets. The skewer became ineffective as it mushed up the center of the squash. The same thing happened with my zucchini. When I tried again with a smaller butternut squash, it had a difficult start, but then magically turned into a 7-foot length of ‘butternut squash lasagna noodles’. It was quite impressive!!!! I next retrieved and tried a younger more firm zucchini than the first one I used. This was another fail, as the food extenders again mushed up the squash enough that it turned loosely on the rod and the slicers could not grab into it. When I tried this same zucchini as noodles vs. the lasagna blade, I was able to get some nice noodles from it before the squash stopped turning. This makes me think that only a very young, very firm zucchini would work, but then since it’s smaller, you really wouldn’t get many noodles from it. Next, I tried turning a beet into noodles. This worked like a dream. It was a small beet, so on my next try, I skewered two of them, and this also was very successful. Everything can be packed up and stored right on the unit, so it really doesn’t take up too much space. This seems to be very well constructed, but I’m getting the idea that perhaps it was not ready for ‘prime time’ and is not effective for all its intended purposes. Nevertheless, since when it works, it works well, it has convinced me that it is worthwhile in the kitchen arsenal of a vegetable user/lover.

Nope – The Hunt ContinuesI have used Zyliss products in the past and always very happy with them, this started out as a possible great gadget, but the wasted food and frustration with the learning curve put me off it. In all fairness I have yet to find a slicer/spiralizer gadget that really delivers and am ready to just work on my knife skills. I had similar experiences to other reviewers – the center of the vegetables would rip out and then there was no way to continue slicing. One of the issues seems to be that the part of the unit that holds the blade is squeezed up against the veg to engage the blade – well the channel that it travels in isn’t slippery or loose enough to allow you to squeeze up in small increments, it is really grabby. Finally, it does work passably well with very hard veg like potato, but for the price I’m not keeping a gadget that is a one trick pony.
