Nice but it is hard to cut them apartThis is a very nice press and if you use it with a pasta maker, there is no wasting of dough as the mold is exactly as wide as the dough extruded from a pasta maker. One thing about it, though is that the way it is made, the pierogis do not easily come apart. So it is a mixed blessing. When I used it, I found it was nice to be able to make 6 at once but the extra dough outside the mold gets harder and harder to work if you do not have a pasta maker. I also have a big pierogi mold but that only makes a lot of pierogis at once so if you do not have enough dough to strentch all the way across the mold you end up having to make more dough. The old way of making them one by one with an old glass is slow and tedious. In spite of its disadvantages, this small mold is worth the price.

I have ordered them for family and several friends have recently purchased this mold after seeing it in action. The one drawback, and a minor one at that, is the half egg mold does not really create a pouch for the filling, since the dough springs back up. It is just as easy skip the filling mold and press down with your thumbs to create a pocket for the filling.

Time SaverOnce I got used to HOW to use this, it was wonderful! I had my doubts since I’ve always made perogies by hand but it really does work. It gives a nice seal on the ends and keeps the filling inside (both of which I doubted). The only downfall is that I would like the perogies to be somewhat bigger. It also worked better when I floured the metal side. It really is a time saver since there is no pinching involved.

I ordered this and couldn’t be happier. FastI have done pieogies by hand and one at a time wit a press. After buying a similar tool for ravioli and really liking it, I ordered this and couldn’t be happier. Fast, easy to use and easy to clean. Would recommend to anyone looking to save time.

I personally don’t get itI am pretty sure I read the directions and did what I was supposed to, but I found the process to be very slow and frustrating. But, the pierogies were delicious. There was that. I’m sure the problem is me and not the maker.

Save your money–use the traditional methodThis is supposed to save time but it ends up being more annoying than the tried and true method (cutting out rounds with a biscuit cutter). We actually used the Kitchen Aid pasta roller to give us nice even sheets the right width which clearly saved some time. However the dough sticks to the press unless you spray it heavily with spray oil. The dumplings get weakened by all the manipulation needed to make them fit the press and then get them to release so many fall apart when cooked. We have had good luck with the ravioli maker (had one for years) but pasta dough is quite stiff. Pierogi dough is soft and this plain just doesn’t work.
