By using downward pressure and a ‘rocking’ Motion, This stylish tool breaks up garlic cloves quickly and easily, forcing the pieces up through the mesh of holes in its base. The crushed pieces are then held in the curved design, allowing them to be spoon or scraped conveniently into a pan or bowl. Additional cloves can also be crushed at this stage before emptying. Rocker is easy to clean under running water but is also dishwasher safe. As it is made from brushed, 18/8 Stainless Steel, the unit can be rinsed under running water, after use, and used to gently rub the hands and fingers to reduce any garlic odor (Stainless Steel is thought to remove the strong odors left from handling garlic).

So simple and better for fryingI’ve seen reviews on Amazon complaining that the Joseph Joseph garlic rocker produces bits of garlic that are larger than a standard press. That’s true, but in my initial tests it’s feeling like an advantage rather than a problem. Finely minced garlic burns almost immediately in a hot frying pan, but the larger bits created by this device seem to hold up better to high heat. So far I’ve made a couple stir frys and roasted vegetables, all of which had a pleasant garlic flavor with no burned, raw or “too large” pieces encountered when eating. For raw preparations (salad dressings, salsa) you’ll probably want to stick with a microplane grater or a Vitamix blender. As an added benefit, the rocker is fun to use, produces zero waste and is MUCH easier to clean than a traditional press. I love throwing it in the sink knowing I won’t have to pick at it later.

I really like it so farI was previously using a traditional garlic press (the little device with two handles that you squeeze together) when a recipe called for minced garlic because I was too lazy to actually mince it with a knife. However, then I had to clean said device, which was a pain. This actually produces more of a mince, which is actually great since that’s what most of the recipes I use call for. It doesn’t waste a bunch of garlic like a traditional press and it’s super quick to clean. The shape of the rocker even acts as a little bowl for when you need to actually use the garlic!I think I’ve had this for two weeks now and use it most nights to cook dinner.Highly recommend if you use a lot of minced garlic, want kitchen tools that take up less space and to cut down on cleanup time.

Doesn’t replace garlic pressI like this garlic – ummm what to call it – masher. It’s easy to use & very sturdy. It doesn’t, however, replace my garlic press. My garlic press essentially minces or micropanes garlic into tiny, tiny pieces. This item is much closer to a small dice. It’s great for times I need to dice garlic for cooking but it leaves the pieces too large (& thus too potent) to add to a dressing or an uncooked sauce. Overall it’s a nice addition to my kitchen but it’s not a replacement for my garlic press. It is easy to clean. I do find it difficult to get all the garlic “out” of the metal & into a bowl sometimes.

Sturdy and good quality productWell made, durable. My only complaint is that the garlic is still in relatively large pieces even after it is pressed through. I end up running my knife through the bits a few times. Wish the holes in the press were smaller.

Great product.I absolutely love this. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. I use a toothpick to make sure I get all of the garlic out of the holes and cleanup is a breeze.

Works Very WellI highly recommend this kitchen tool. It really speeds up the process of mincing fresh garlic. I crush the garlic cloves through the holes twice and then maybe maybe do a quick rock chop with a chef’s knife. Takes a fraction of the amount of time it takes just using a knife. It does take a little scrubbing to get all the garlic bits out of the holes in the tool but really not bad. I count this as a win.

Great tool, does not disappoint! This is by far the best garlic press I’ve ever used. In fact, I bought a second one after I’d had the first for a while. It cuts the garlic so much better than any other one I’ve had. It’s also very ergonomic. My only suggestion is that if the handles were just a bit flatter, it’d be easier to smash the garlic with-sometimes the only reason I dirty a knife is to smash open the garlic before I use this.it really does remove the garlic smell from my hands, too!
