I could not be happier with this! Absolutely worth the shipping wait!!! And it even arrived a week early! I love that it’s too ended and comes with the silicone lid! It really stays on there! I’ve been using it for my dried herbs from the garden. It does not hold on to any smells and even the pestol is dual ended. Its a great size!

This is an expensive mortar and pestle but performance is so good you soon forget the price and enjoy the quality of a product that will last a lifetime. The mortar has two sides one shallow and the other deeper and the pestle has two ends one with a wider head, so can be used for making pastes or just grinding down spices etc. It comes with a rubber mat to protect a work surface and allows the mortar to be held confidently.

It’s hard to complain about this piece. It’s large, heavy, and beautiful. You get two sizes of mortar and pestle in one, and the silicone “mat” that comes with it to prevent your counter from getting scratched also makes a perfect seal on both sides of the mortar. It seals so well you can actually pick up the whole thing by the little handle on the silicone mat using the seal it creates (although I do not recommend trying it since it’s heavy and if it falls you’re likely to break something).

Despite some of the negative reviews of people getting broken or missing pieces, I decided to purchase anyway. It came well packed in its own box with approx 3/4 inch closed cell “foam” padding – I’m not sure exactly the proper name for the type of padding, but it’s the same as pool noodle material if you’re familiar with that. Didn’t have any issue with broken or missing parts. The wooden spoon that it comes with was smaller than I imagined, but it is an appropriate size for the mortar. I have no complaints about the product. But the packing job by Amazon wasn’t the greatest. This item was shipped with a few other items in a larger box, and could have used more padding in that box. But I understand the time constraints that Amazon puts it’s employees under, so I have no gripes with them. Also, I would recommend using a piece of the foam padding that it came with to place the mortar on if you are concerned about damaging your countertops. I got the black granite version, only used it twice so far, but it worked great. Cheers 👍

This is a great addition to anyone’s kitchen! I love being able to crush herbs, garlic, etc for various recipes. And it’s gorgeous! I ordered the black one and it sits on my counter where everyone can see and comment on it.
