I found this thermometer to be easy to use and accurate. The magnet is convienetn as well. You choose the type of meat you’re cooking, (beef, hamburger, chicken, turkey, fish, pork, lamb, veal) and then selet the temp you’d like to be alerted at based the level of “doneness” ie “medium rare, medium, well,” etc. I wish there was an additional setting where I could set my own temp as I was cooking a brisket once and needed to get alerted at 205 degrees. The highest alert was lower, but it still worked fine as a in the oven thermometer. Definitely useful for other cuts of meat though, and I’ll use this alot!

Excellent product and reasonably priced. It is battery powered (2 AAA, batteries are included). However, I wish the batteries were rechargeable. The probe is attached to a braded metal cable that is long enough to measure the temperature of meat products placed anywhere in a standard oven, or outdoors on your grill. Since the cable is made of metal, it will get hot during use, so appropriate measures should be taken to protect the counter as well as human skin. The unit is equipped with magnets so it can be attached to the oven door or grill face or set to the side using the built-in stand. It has eight (8) built-in cooking modes that make setting the target temperature of the meat being cooked simple. Both my wife and I find the Digital Thermometer to be very helpful when preparing meals. With the holidays coming up, this just might be the perfect gift. I highly recommend the product.

After submitting the 2-star review below, I was contacted by the seller who informed me that they had made improvements in the display. He offered to send me the improved model at no cost to try out, and that’s some damn good customer service and attention to detail. Kudos for that.
The display on the upgraded model does seem to have been improved, which makes it much easier to use. I have included pictures of the two thermometers side-by-side. The first pic is with the backlights lit on both. I had to take the picture in the dark because the reflection of the overhead lights didn’t give a good representation. The new one is on the left. It is a bit easier to read when lit. The two big improvements are that the backlight stays on much longer, and after it shuts off the display is still fairly readable WITHOUT having to press any buttons. (On the old one I had to press a button to “wake it up”, and on doing so as often as not would end up inadvertently changing to Celsius or changing the meat type or something). I would say that with the display improvements this is now a useful thermometer.
The improved display and the proactive customer service certainly deserve another star each, so I am changing my rating to 4-stars. If they were to address the other design issues I mentioned previously, it would certainly be a 5-star unit (those issues ARE still present on the new model).
I was happy when I first got it. The size is nice. The magnet is a great idea, and it’s nice and strong.
Then I used it a few times.
First off, the jack the probe plugs into isn’t great. It felt quite loose at first, until I decided it wasn’t seated properly. It took a lot of wiggling and WAY too much force to get it securely plugged in, but it has been quite secure ever since.
When you turn it on, the units always default to Celsius. Since I live in the US, I happen to use Fahrenheit, so I have to switch it EVERY SINGLE TIME. Now, I realize that most of the world uses Celsius, and here in the US we’re kinda sticks in the mud for not using the much more logical metric system- but it is what it is, and if you use Celsius, you ALWAYS use Celsius, and if you use Fahrenheit, you ALWAYS use Fahrenheit.
There should be a switch to select units permanently instead of the stupid switch to select temp or timer. Who needs a timer? I have a timer on my stove. I have a timer on my microwave. I have unlimited timers on my phone, and so do you. A units switch makes far more sense, but instead I have a timer I will never use.
Then there is the display. The backlight stays on just long enough for the temperature to stabilize once you put the probe in a piece of meat, then conveniently shuts off lol. The display IS still on, and if the angle is just right you can read it, but in bright light (like if you’re grilling) forget it! I’d be happy to sacrifice battery life for the option to keep the backlight on.
There’s a bunch of selections for meat types and doneness, and that’s fine- it always gives you the probe temp- but if you don’t select one, it eventually starts incessantly beeping until you do. I can see the convenience of having that feature, because you may not know off the top of your head what the temp for lamb is- but don’t INSIST that I choose! Annoying.
The cord on the probe is a bit of a pain because it tends to kink- but that may be the nature of temperature probes, so I don’t count that against the unit.
So, I went to use it tonight. Turn it on, change to Fahrenheit, fight with the cord, and stick it to the stove. I start cooking my salmon, and BEEP BEEP BEEP…I didn’t confirm my meat choice, so I have to deal with that while the clock is ticking on my expensive fish. Ok, confirm, insert the probe… and the damn display backlight shuts off! Grrrrr!
I suppose I’ll keep it, because I hate waste, but I was VERY close to chucking the damn thing.
So make your choice, but I would never buy this thing again.

This performs well for a low cost thermometer. There is a lot to like in this unit.
The view screen is brightly lit and large numbers which are easy to read, even from a distance. Instead of buttons this has a touch screen with 3 press points. The options are a little tricky to navigate but once you figure it out, not bad at all. I wish the device would remember my last setting when I shut it off but it’s certainly not a deal breaker.
They spent a fair amount of time doing a drawing of a turkey, cow, hamburger, and others. Nice, but the reason I use a thermometer is so I get the temperature exact per my recipe. There is a default where you hold an icon for 2 seconds and just up/down to your temp. Works for me.
I mentioned the screen is bright. Inside the house it’s very bright. Outside was a challenge with someone else’s thermometer. My grill faces the sun. When the sun is on it I cannot see the little animal pictures but I can still easily make out the temperature and temp goal. That’s what I need.
There’s no wifi features. For those of us who do not wish to put our personal firewall at risk just to grill a brisket, this simplicity is appreciated.
The unit is small and lightweight with strong magnets on the back to hold it in place. The probe has a 38 inch steel cable and the actual probe has a small bend to it which is nice.
One dislike is the unit beeps every time you touch it, so if I were getting up early to put something in the oven, I won’t be the only one awake. The alarm does beep for a few minutes when the temp is reached. At that point it stops beeping and the display still reads. I don’t know if it sends an early warning or how long it rings since I missed it. I like that it did not shut off. So far I’ve cooked using it once.
The temperature is 2 degrees off of my other unit. I don’t know which is accurate really. Time will let me know if it’s consistent, which is the most important item to me.
