Kikkerland Vintage Streamline Kitchen Timer, RedIt seems to work well so far, have only used it a few times. It is smaller than I had hoped it would be but is super cute and fits well on my stove.

Great timer!I use this for my “pomodoro,” and it’s such a cute companion throughout my day. I have cranked and rung this thing many, many times over the last few months, and it’s still working like the day I got it.

Neat Little TimerNothing to dislike about this neat little timer on my part. I bought it because my eye doctor put me on eye drops to put in my eyes when going to bed. The drop directions said to put pressure on my sinuses for two minutes until the drops soaked in to my eyes to prevent the drops from leaking up into my sinuses when laying in bed. Timer works perfectly for what I bought it for and it looks neat sitting on my night stand. Have also used it for a kitchen timer on occasion and it works just fine for that, as well.Have had no problems with this timer and would buy another one if I needed one.

Remember to “wind” it.Some reviewers say that it doesn’t ring sometimes for short settings.Note that the instructions say to “WIND” it all the way to 55 minutes, then turn it back to the value you want. Without that “winding” it may not ring right.

Hackable!Great right out of the box, but I’m just not that kind of guy. I got this for my office desk for time management. The paint is a beautiful “fire truck” red and chrome twist bezel looks sturdy. The bezel is the “knob” you use to arm the timer. Follow the instructions here and spin it all the way to 55, then back down to your target. The faceplate is well designed and attractive. There is a neoprene pad on the bottome so it stays put while you crank it around. It’s freakishly loud, but you can tone that down fairly easily.HACKSDisassembly: (very easy, small Phillips screwdriver, skill knife (X-acto) One Phillips screw in the back to remove housing. Cut out neoprene over base mounting Phillips screw to remove base if desired.1. Silencer: Less BRRRRRRRRRRRRINNNNGGGGG! Remove back screw, pack lightly to firm with cotton from cotton balls. With the movement out, you will see an interior chamber with three holes that make it look like an old-school radiation-hazard symbol; poke the cotton balls in to these holes. My first attempt was too tight and rendered the alarm inaudible. I removed some packing and now it’s just right. TIP: There are two slots underneath the main housing behind the base mount. I thought that I could just cover these with some red gaffer tape, but somehow, this actually seemed to make it louder (megaphone effect?)2. Faceplate Replacement Remove the hosing by unscrewing the back screw. Gently pull/wiggle the bezel away from the movement and set it aside, gently pry/wiggle the needle off of the post. The actual faceplate graphic is glued to a stand-off plate and you can carefully remove it with a skill knife. I made several 3″ diameter designs in Corel Draw, and finally settled on a minimalistic one with a white 5 min wedge, a green 25 min wedge and a black 55 min wedge, then white ticks all the way around at 5 min intervals. At some point using this, I realized ti could be completely blank and still be farily accurate because zero is at the top, 15 min at the right, 30 at bottom, 45 at right and so on. I want to get another one, strip it, have it brass plated and then use the below template for a faceplate: […] … or maybe go morbid and get a yellow one, the make a giger-counter design faceplate. 🙂

Such a great timer!I love this timer! First of all it just looks so cool and secondly because it rings and then shuts off. Every other timer I’ve had needed to be manually shut off. I’ve been eyeballing this timer for years and I’m glad I caved. I thought it was a bit pricey but I treated myself and I’m glad I did. I like the way it looks so much I keep it out on my kitchen counter. Everyone comments on it. LOVE IT!!!

Looks good. Works OK, Sturdy. One would not expect a mechanical timer to be exact and this is no exception. Then again nothing is exact in a kitchen Like bake 30 minutes then remove doesn’t mean 30 minutes zero seconds. It is all approximate. Just like the oven temp varies as does the atmospheric pressure. So an approximate time is just fine. And this is definitely approximate If you are within 30 seconds of what you wanted you are doing well. You must first turn the dial all the way clockwise then back to your setting time. If you don’t the spring is not consistent. I am not sure it matters much as long as you turn the dial past your time then back to it. I just find it easier to turn it 100% every time. It is a rugged unit. I dropped mine on the concrete porch and all that happened was chipped paint. The bell could be louder. I took mine apart to see how it works and found a slug that bounces when the ringing gear turns. The slug bounces into the clock cover. The cover is not isolated but screwed down solidly which tends to muffle the noise. If you are hearing you will not hear this unless you are next to it and looking. but if things are quiet it is OK. All in all a typical timer from the 50’s which is what we thought would be a decorative piece of our kitchen.
