Accurate timer – easy to useThis timer is accurate and that’s the most important aspect. The magnet isn’t strong enough. It attaches well to the side of my refrigerator, but it moves around when you are setting it. Also, if you want to bring it over to your workspace it’s not easy to read and isn’t meant to be used that way. Doesn’t sit upright. It still works but it seems designed only for use with the magnetic side on a metal cabinet or appliance. But most importantly it’s accurate down to the last minute or even seconds.

DisappointmentI really expected a bit more from KitchenAid. There is no hour timer and the digital readout gets dark very quickly and is hard to wake up. Additionally, there is no countdown reminder. I was replacing an inexpensive timer that finally just gave up after many years of use. It was a simple design, had the ability to set hours AND minutes, and gave beep reminders at 10 minutes before time was up and again at 5 minutes before time was up. This thing doesn’t do any of that. I was going to give it to my husband, but he doesn’t want it because the hour setting isn’t available. It is pretty. It is strongly magnetic and sticks nicely to the side of my refrigerator. Other than that though? My cheapo dollar store timer was far superior. Hope this helps.

Hard to read after a few secondsI tend to use this to count time that has accrued like a stopwatch (count upwards) rather than as a countdown timer. The light always goes dim after a few seconds (on purpose) and then makes the timer difficult to read. It’s fine if you just want to set it and forget it, but annoying if you actively want to watch the amount of time that has passed.

Display doesn’t stay bright – cannot see across the roomThe timer is nice, small, convenient, and easy to use. The display has bright large number, BUT it dims out after a few seconds! It doesn’t stay bright during the countdown process so if you’re across the kitchen and want to look to see how much cooking time you have left, you cannot see it. You have to come over and press a button for it to brighten back up. Very disappointing feature.

Very hard to readThis timer works well, rings nicely, and seems well built. However it is very hard to read most of the time. The display uses a reverse LCD display where everything is black and the numerals are white. When you first set the time and start it a light comes on to display the time, at this point it is easy to read. However after a few seconds the light turns off and the display becomes all but invisible unless held directly under a spot light. The now dark display will stay that way until it rings, so seeing what time is left is difficult. If you pause the timer and then restart it the light will come back on for a few seconds allowing you to see the time left, but then goes dark again. So while I like the timer in general, the inability to be able to read it across the kitchen makes it a pain.

Cute little clock sticks on fridgeThe sound isn’t particularly loud, which is either a good or a bad thing, depending on your use. If you walk away from the kitchen you probably won’t hear the timer when it goes to zero, but if you are in the kitchen you can’t miss it. Cute little guy, comes with batteries so can’t complain.

Great with one BIG exception!Looks good. Works. Easy to read ONLY for the first minute! Then the numbers disappear! Oh yeah, you can make them reappear if you walk over to it and press the correct button. The numbers (time remaining) will then be legible for one more minute. Then they disappear again. 1 of the highlights of this timer is that it is “easy to read” when just walking by or at a slight distance but NOT if the numbers do not appear! This is a serious, serious flaw and I could not give it more than 2 or 3 stars because of this. The manufacturer should try using it as a timer in the kitchen when he/she should be able to glance over at the timer and see that it is not displaying numbers!
