Norpro Chicken Timer
Amazon.com
This charming chicken-and-chicks timer will brighten up your kitchen counter while it keeps your cookies, cakes, roasts, and casseroles from burning. The ringing tone will remind you to take your pie out of the oven or check your pasta on the stove. The timer works best when timing longer intervals–the chime is triggered mechanically, and units of less than 10 minutes don’t trip the ringer accurately–but this timer is a cheery way to keep track of most kitchen tasks. –Julija Gelazis

Updated review….Liking it better than I did at first. Use it a lotUpdate: Ok, I just upped this by one star, as I’m finding this more useful than I thought, and the dinger has increased in length from what it did at first and so I can better hear it w/o accidentally ignoring it (which I did when at first it was just a really short ‘ding’). After a few months of use, here is what I’m finding…1. It does NOT work well for timing something short, like 6-7 minutes or less – that is when it might only give you one little ‘ding’ or not ding at all.2. It absolutely ticks as it’s counting down3. For me, as long as I have it nearby I don’t miss the ding, but if I’m in another room when it dings it’s not loud enough to carry far and I will miss it.Original review:I’m tired of using the microwave timer or my phone when cooking something in the regular oven, so I decided to get a simple, basic timer & wanted something cute. Well, upon receipt I was a bit disappointed in this one as the colors aren’t as well applied or as vivid as looks on this picture. But, since it’s not that expensive, I figured it wasn’t that big of a deal. However, where I DO have a problem, is that the timer only makes one, not-really-very-loud ‘ding’ when it’s done, so it’s really easy to miss (which happened the first time I used it & I over cooked my daughter’s pizza by about 15 minutes. So, I’m back to looking for a good one. This would be fine if you keep it right next to you so you notice the ding, but I need something I can leave on the kitchen counter and hear from at least 15ft. away.

So cute. So useful.Loved this cute timer. Not screamingly loud, which is good. I just take with me when I leave the kitchen.

Bird, bird, bird is the wordThis timer is clucking awesome. As others have mentioned, you do have to twist it around, then set it for the minutes you desire.I was hoping to find an egg underneath when the timer went off, but to no avail. You’ll love this timer, especially if you’re a bird nerd.

Not very accurateIt doesn’t really keep time well, and it rings for a long time and it is difficult to make it stop ringing.

Similar looking as the photos, but not the exact sameThe chicken comb is more like a brown color instead of red, and the chicken is not as chubby like it looks in the photo, it’s longer and taller, not as cute. But overall the timer itself works fine, it may be off by a minute or so but not a big issue for me.

Winding a watchIt is an “okay” timer. The red comb on mine is actually brown which I think looks odd. Also, some reviewers said the timer does not count down all the way to zero even when turned up to 60 minutes and then back to the desired time. Mine has the same problem, but can be solved if the timer is turned to 60 minutes two or three times, then to the desired time. A little like winding a watch.

Ringer is very lowCute but the ringer is too low to hear over loud students.

Simply a fun chicken spinning timer.Simply a fun chicken spinning timer. I wish the ringer were a little louder and longer, but works great.
