CHARD FS-860 Electric Food Slicer
8.6” Stainless Steel Non-Serrated Concave Blade with Blade Cover
The CHARD 8.6” Slicer provides professional performance that is powerful enough to handle any job.
The 8.6” stainless steel non-serrated concave blade and thickness control knob provide consistent slices every time. The oversized, easy glide food carriage accepts large cuts of meat, the ergonomically designed food guide eliminates food from shifting and the blade cover protects the user while slicing. Extra-large suction cup feet provide a stable base on most surfaces.
Also features an illuminated power switch which is recessed to help prevent accidental engagement.
HELPFUL HINTS:
– Only slice boneless meats, do not attempt to slice extremely hard foods, or fruits with seeds.
– Your slicer is perfect for consistent uniform slices of fruits, onions, cucumbers, cheese, potatoes, or homemade breads.
– For best results always chill cheese or raw meats prior to slicing. It is best to spray the blade with water or wipe with a damp sponge when slicing soft cheese. If excess cheese builds up on the blade surface, wipe with a damp cloth to avoid overheating the motor.
– Never attempt to slice fully frozen foods.
– Ensure that all wrapping materials is removed from food prior to slicing.
– When slicing meats that have just been cooked ensure that they rest for at least 15 minutes prior to slicing. This will allow the natural juices to redistribute throughout, making for a juicier, more flavorful taste.
- Powerful long lasting 150 Watt DC Motor
- 8.6” Stainless Steel Non-Serrated Concave Blade with Blade Cover
- Large Thickness Control Knob and Stainless Steel Food Carriage with Ergonomic Guide
- Illuminated, Recessed Power Switch

The three screw system actually gives you some ability to make some more fine adjustments. ) 2) I bought mine through Amazon …There’s two parts to this review…1) It’s as advertised. For the price point, I’d have expected a little more. the blade is not balanced, rather it wobbles about 2mm forward and back. I haven’t found an adjustment for that yet, but I’ll figure something out. The guide was not parallel with the blade at first. It would have made very uneven initial cuts. I took it off and found that there were three screws, three locking washers, and four flat washers. There was a random washer on one of the screws. I put that on the front of the bottom (center) screw and it more or less leveled the guide and made fairly uniform cuts. (The wobble still makes for some uneven cuts thought… It also helps to have some washers of varying thickness to use. The three screw system actually gives you some ability to make some more fine adjustments.)2) I bought mine through Amazon Warehouse Deals. I paid slightly less than $50 so I kind of assume you get what you pay for. It was advertised with damaged packaging and that was about it. I opened the box and whoah… it kind of stunk… like literally stunk. the think looked clean but the moment I turned it on I could tell it was wiped down from the outside, but it had been used and hadn’t been cleaned out. I had to spend the better part of 45 minutes scrubbing and picking off the dried on meat and junk that came with my machine.Granted, it’s marked at “$199” and normally sold for about $100… so that said, I got it for about half price… but I’m telling you now… I’d have been better off buying something brand new for less. It sure would have beat the expression on my wife’s face when she saw what I was cleaning out.So, as to point 1… It’s decent quality and makes fairly good cuts if you’ve got the technical know-how to (and parts in the garage) to make a few adjustments. It’s not close to what you’d get in a grocery store though. And as to point 2… If you’re going to buy from Warehouse Deals… don’t buy something that is used to process food… kinda gross when you get a dirty one.

This item is no longer producedI have got this item because it was a closeout price. Theoretically the features that it has, are the ones of a commercial grade slicer. Here is the end of the good part about this product.First, it came in pieces, literally. Screws all over the place in the box. No, this was not supposed to be a kit.The actual slider / back carrier was bended (!) When attempting to cut anything it would be film thin at the top, and Texas toast size at the bottom. Adjustment screws did not help. So, using an old method, a mallet and 2 pieces of 2×4, fixed the issue. It is a pretty thick and sturdy plate nonetheless. The back of the cutting blade is touching the belt casing, but that was fixed too with a dremell.New screws were also installed and noy it is fully operational after 2 hrs of labor and 4 phone call to the factory ( which by the way, were real nice, but they NO LONGER have parts for it – as this company, CHARD is no longer in existence ).So, long story short, when it works, it is a real nice slicere. Bit noisy, but oh well… I can live with that. Most of the parts are interchangeable from other brands and this one can be fixed pretty easy if anything breaks in the future. If you want one , make sure that you get it at a real good price, because you may have to service it yourself and get parts on your dime.I could have return it, as the seller was super nice and helpful. You can only buy a similar model like this one at 300$ or more, so for me it was a good trade.Other than that, is all good.

Nice but has some flawsThe Chard unit runs and slices like a dream without bogging down. But clean up isn’t easy as it does not have anything but blade and blade guard that can be removed.. Also I found the table area to be a little slim you have a nice 8 inch blade . But only aprox. 4 inches Between that blade and the finger gaurd. Which. In my case I used it with the guard up in the air..

works great however, you can’t get a serrated blade and …works great however, you can’t get a serrated blade and it is only good for meats. We tried cheese and it will cut but makes a mess with the cuts very irregular and small shavings. I should have bought the 7.5 that has a serrated blade available.

Don’t buy dangerous to useVery bad experience didn’t have the chance to used it because when you turning the power on the blade make terrible noise and very dangerous to use. It’s look like manufacturing defective and cannot open the knife lid to see what is the noise problem…probably the knife touching the metal cover.

Really not very goodI have used professional slicers working in a deli so maybe I’m a little spoiled but it should have a better blade and a smoother sliding mechanism had to return mine

Limit to small jobsI bought this slicer 5 years ago at a local home goods store. I’ve used it a lot, and yes, you need a screw driver to take it apart for thorough cleaning. I’ve used it for ham, turkey, beef, sausage, tomatoes, potatoes, oranges, cheese…never had a problem. Until…the carriage shaft pins disintegrated. They are made of plastic and after removing and replacing the carriage bolts in order to remove the food carriage and blade for cleaning, the pins cracked and fell apart. So now there is nothing to set the bolts into in order to secure the carriage shaft. I have a perfectly good food slicer, but no way to secure the food to be sliced to the blade mechanism. Have searched numerous appliance websites for replacement parts. I found replacement pins on a Waring website, but alas, they are no longer available!
