Who knew I needed a meat slicer? Where have I been?Recently a friend of mine bought a meat slicer. I thought what in the world would anyone need a meat slicer for? Well, there are times when a meat slicer can come in handy – when you want to cut meat to a specific width and the deli or meat counter doesn’t get what you’re asking, when you have a big block of cheese to cut through, breads, etc. Well, sign me up.First off, it’s pretty light. I didn’t kill myself trying to put this on the counter, that’s for sure. Second, it does what it’s supposed to which is cut meat. I haven’t had a chance to use this on breads yet, but I’ll have to check that out when I get some bread.Cleanup is pretty straightforward. I haven’t had major issues like a few other reviewers have, but maybe I got lucky. I will say for the price, I am very happy with my purchase. Time to go get a block of cheese and slice away!

Ham slicerDidn’t like that it can’t be set to the lowest number to slice . A nice little thickness to the slices but gets job done. Good for small things like cheese and ham, salami

Not easy to clean1. Does not slice bread. It advertises that it can slice bread but does not. Bread is sliced and then bent, broken and bunched due to a big round bump at the back. (Probably the motor. See photo.)2. I have used this to slice bacon and turkey breast. It slices well however food is caught sometimes near the blade. The thickness adjuster knob is not on securely and moves.3. There are only 2 peices that come off easily, the blade and the meat pusher/protector (See photo). The plate can come off by taking out the bar with 2 screws. The rest is not removable. There are holes for screws behind the blade which catch food and are not easy to clean (See photo).4. Low power motor but it does get the job done. Instructions say not to run it more than 10 minutes. So it is okay for small jobs.Summary: Not impressed. Slices well enough. I can only run it for 10 minutes to prevent overheating and it takes more than 10 minutes to clean all the food off.

Easy to use, compact for storageTook just minutes to learn how to use this slicer. Has a pusher to take the meat through and back for each slice. I found it very safe when the directions are followed. (I wet the counter before pressing down on the suction cups. Holds tight!) I put a rectangle snap lid container where the slices come out (at the back). When it’s full, I just snap the lid on and put it in the frig. Remove the blade, drop it in hot soapy water and clean with a brush. Wipe the rest down with a wet cloth. Rinse and put the blade back on. All done! I use those short rubber hot mitts to handle the blade. Makes amazing lunch meat from precooked ham, turkey, etc. Love it! Haven’t tried cheese yet. That’s next. Great product!

It’s Meh at bestPros:PriceIt works, kind ofCons:Slow blade speed which is probably why it’s serrated, just affects slicing speedGap between stage and depth gauge is about 3/8″ so last piece is thick, doesn’t really affect large cutsCut width (stage edge to blade) is only about 6″ so if cutting brisket or bacon it has to be cut down to 6″Smells like melting plastic after about 7 mins of cutting, manual says not to use for more than 10 minsPlastic drive gear is concerning especially after the plastic smellI was able to cut about 5lb of bacon before letting it cool down. Overall it worked but the pork belly I bought was pre-cut into 2″ sections so I ended up with 10 pieces of bacon closer to 1/2″ thick due to the stage gap issues. This doesn’t matter as much for large cuts of meat like brisket but the stage only has 6″ or so distance to the blade. So when cutting a brisket or bacon you have to cut it in half lengthwise so it fits on the stage.I wouldn’t really recommend this for anyone. If you are only using it on holidays or 4 times a year I think the price is a big plus. If you make brisket or bacon on your smoker I would go with something else better or just stick with a knife.

Very disappointedIt came with the blade covered with what seemed to be industrial grease, which was no fun to clean off. While the blade is easy to remove and fairly easy to clean, the rest of the machine is covered with little places bits of food can get into that require time consuming efforts to clean. But my greatest disappointment is the design; The cut food spills out the back (the portions that do not get caught in the backplate) onto the counter. There is no practical way to get a plate under the food drop area this means you end up with food under the unit, which means you have to move it to recover your food and to clean. I used it a couple times and now it’s just collecting dust. I might use it again so I’m not returning it, but it’s so annoying to use that I won’t use it as I planned when I ordered.

You are not readyIf you don’t currently have a meat slicer, you probably don’t understand how truly weird it is to have, on your counter, a BUZZSAW WHOSE EXPRESS PURPOSE IS TO CUT FLESH. However, once you get over the existential crisis, having one is pretty handy. We don’t use it all the time, but it’s especially useful when we get a fancy cut of meat from Costco because it can make thinner, more even slices than we can with a knife so the food ends up lasting a lot longer, which is nice. That’s probably the benefit of any meat slicer, though.I can’t really recommend this specific slicer for the following reasons: – When it arrived, the blade and portions of the slicer itself were covered in a weird transparent liquid. Probably lubricant? I doubt it’s food safe, though, so I wiped it off and washed it very thoroughly before we used it. Even still, I get a little worried thinking about it. Did we eat any of that stuff? What was it? – It’s VERY HARD to clean. The blade itself comes off and you can wash that pretty easily with a scrub brush, but the rest of it does not come apart. There are a lot of little nooks and crannies for grease and other bits to get stuck in, and it’s extremely difficult to get them out. Also, since the rest of it is attached to the motor, you can’t easily use a lot of water or dish soap.Anyway, having a meat slicer is extremely handy but this particular meat slicer is not great at anything other than the slicing part. I don’t exactly have experience with other slicers, though, so maybe this is as good as it gets?

Nice light duty meat slicerMainly bought this for processing wild game like turkey and vineson. I have found when slicing the vineson for making jerky that having the meat slightly frozen makes it so much easier to achieve the cuts you want. Slicing turkey breast is a breeze. Cleaning is fairly easy aside from some of the meat getting in the screw holes but it is not bad cleaning it out. Overall very pleased with the results from this slicer and it was much more affordable than most. If you are going to be using it daily or even weekly then I would say maybe an upgrade would be in order but for occasional use like I do it works great!

Worth to buy!!Easy to change thickness, enough power, slice meat for hot pot, not easy to clean

Just what I expected for slicing meatThe main reason for me buying this slicer was that I was tired of paying $11.00 pound for roast beef lunch meat. After making a 3+ pound beef eye of round roast ($6.99 lb.) I let the roast cool and proceed to slice it. The settings on the slicer made it real easy to pick the thickness and the blade was substantial enough to make slicing a breeze. Cleaning the slicer was not difficult as the blade came off easily and the stand where you position the meat folds back so you can clean the key areas of the slicer. There was nothing difficult about learning how to use this household device.
