Turn random things into sorbet and ice cream like vegan dessertsA must for home made vegan ice cream / sorbet. Much easier to end up with something with a good consistency with this than a traditional ice cream freezer. By “much easier”, I mean this thing is practically fool-proof.Mango with carrot is my current favorite sorbet– just cut a large carrot into thirds, and jam the carrot pieces, vertically, into the center of a cup filled with pieces of mango (optionally sweeten to taste) and freeze. Comes out nice and creamy. Nearly every random thing I’ve tried has come out well (partially fermented berries was really interesting). Raw cashews are good to make stuff extra creamy– cashews with cocoa powder, vegan sugar (all sugar except the common white cane sugar which is filtered through “bone char” [charcoal made from bones]) and water makes amazing _creamy_ vegan chocolate ice cream (recipes using cashews are best run through a blender before freezing, but the less liquid ones can just have cashews mixed in whole before freezing since they won’t separate out). Extra strong lemonade (one large lemon per pint), run once through on sorbet setting makes a really refreshing shave ice. Over-ripe bananas just jammed into a cup and frozen comes out super creamy and yummy. Etc.I’m really happy with this purchase.Negatives:This thing is loud! No, this thing is *really* loud! I close the kitchen window to not disturb the neighbor, shoo the cat outside, and wear industrial hearing protection ear muffs when running it.It has a lot of structural plastic parts. I hope replacement parts will be made available because with all that plastic, something is going to break eventually.Minor nit, it requires you to lower the bowl and re-raise the bowl before it will let you run ‘re-spin’. I have to ‘re-spin’ nearly everything I make (everything where the goal is a creamy texture gets a ‘re-spin’). I’m worried about the extra wear and tear on the plastic mechanisms caused by this ritual lower bowl + raise bowl + ‘re-spin’.The portion of the splined shaft that the blade rides on, that is exposed when the unit is not running, needs to be wiped off after each use, but you cannot access most of the length of the shaft (it extends down into the cup when in operation). I hope they have some sort of seal that self-cleans this shaft, since the user cannot. The separate two packs of additional pint cups are very expensive for what they are (and you will probably want to buy some extras).

One of the best NinjaI fell in love with Gelato since my last trip to Sicily and started make it at home using a compressor ice cream maker. Gelatos turn up great fresh out of the machine but once I store it in the fridge, the gelato becomes hard, ice crystal forms in it. I found it is impossible to bring the frozen gelato back to freshly made taste and consistency. Then I saw a video of this product, which claims I can make Gelato, ice cream, sorbet etc. using this Ninja without any ice cream maker. The process is super simple, just freeze the gelato base overnight and then cream it using Ninja. So I placed an order at Amazon with some moderate expectation. After trying it for the first time in reviving frozen gelato as well as making a fresh batch using the simple Ninja recipe, I have become a big fan of this machine. Hands down it is probably one of the best investment for the kitchen! Now I have a problem, what to do with my expensive bulky compressor ice cream maker? It will be great if Ninja also offers free haul away of ice cream makes with this machine, it is that good.

Just What I NeededI got tired of walking past the ice cream/sherbet aisle in the market. All I saw was sugar infused, excess ingredient cartons that the same old flavors I’ve been seeing for decades. Now I have endless options. Just about any fruit can be turned into sherbet. I’ve done banana, apples, cherries, blueberries, melon, peach, fruit cocktail, and strawberry already. I know exactly what I’m getting because I was the one who put the ingredients into the container. Now if there’s a sale on fresh fruit I can buy extra and freeze it in one of the containers and have it available when I want it. I don’t have to worry about throwing things away because they get too ripe. The ice cream option allows for me to use only natural ingredients to get a smooth and more healthy option than I can get at the super market. There is also a lite ice cream option for those who want less fat. That’s my option most of the time. I use oat, soy, or almond milk to cut down on the fat. Dark cocoa powder gives me all the flavor I need to a rich chocolate treat.

Awesome!! Tips and Tricks in ReviewSo, I do not use their recipes first of all. My friend has one and did try theirs and they said it was pretty gross. Things I do use are: coconut water, sugar free lemonade, torani sugar free sweeteners (for sorbet), Greek yogurt & Keifer (for froyo), and the BEST is the ice cream I make with coconut cream. I’ve made so many things and they are almost always yummy utilizing the items above and then with our favorite fruit. A tip for the fruit: any will work but for really silky smooth ice cream use the dense fruit like banana, pineapple, and mango. For the sorbet I’ll fill it up with whatever fruit I want and then fill it up about half and half with coconut water and lemonade. Don’t forget a few pumps of sweetener. For the froyo mix up the yogurt, keifer, and sweetener to taste in separate container (you can make a big batch ahead of time in the blender) . And then fill with fruit to the line and dump in your yogurt mix. Finally for the ice cream take your coconut cream and mix with a bit of coconut water. Heat it up until it’s mixed, sweeten, and set aside. Fill with fruit and then top with the cream. This with mango is insanely good. I make a peach mango one that’s also awesome.Tip: ensure you only mix items that are totally flat! If the mix ends up with an angle or bump you’ll need to heat up something (I use the flat part of a meat tenderizer lol) metal under the hottest setting under the faucet and slowly melt it down until it’s flat (avoiding the edges of the plastic container although it should never be hot enough to melt it). If it’s not flat you may damage the blade and it will also possible fall off the cap during mixing.Tip: if your freezer is super cold like ours, your mixes will be so frozen that they’ll spin to a powder. What we do is take a butter knife and push down to the bottom and spin it around to make a hole. Then you can just pour in more of whatever liquid you used for the mix. This is also a great time to add more sweetener if it’s not sweet enough for you.The options are limitless!! I’ve used any frozen fruit you can buy or think of, and I even have a rum raisin mix and a pumpkin pie mix in the freezer right now!!

Great for texture and small treatsOverall Happy but I have to admit, I thought I was getting something much closer to a soft serve ice cream maker. Let’s start with the positives!!#1 you can take hard ice cream and blend it into soft serve which is always 😋#2 it is a sturdy well made machine (as Ninja always is)#3 the array of textures it offers makes it easy to please all#4 having pre made smoothies after working in the heat is greatNOT really negative just negative for me personally#1 Fruit must already be smashed & soft (like canned fruit) before freezing This is NOT a blender. It’s more of an “After Blender” the container cannot have frozen chunks, it was be level and smooth,So, I would make fruit smoothie in my blender then put into the freezer cups for 24hrs or more. Then, when I wanted a smoothie I could grab from freezer and push the milkshake button and it would shave it and mix it into the proper consistency. For me, that’s just a lot of extra work.BUT, for one or two people and/or health conscious it would probably be great.

Easy to useI got this because I follow a gluten free diet, which limits options for store bought ice creams with mix-ins. This makes great ice cream, and I enjoy choosing my flavors and the mix ins. The containers are smaller than most other ice cream makers, so it fits into the freezer easily.

THIS IS AMAZINGI’ve literally used it every day for a month to make low calorie high protein super creamy ice cream and sorbetFill to just below fill line with 1%/2% milk and add 20g of protein powder or powdered peanut butter, 30g of swerve, 1g of salt and guar gum and your golden. Use “Light Icecream” and hit re-spin once or twiceGuys its legit black magic.

Almost perfectSo. It’s expensive. It probably won’t really “pay for itself” for years- but it’s worth the price for convenience and controlling what goes into our food.Only complaint is the cleaning. The lid where the blade is mounted seems to hold on to water/food when cleaning in. There are small cavities on either side of the blade release where stuff can sneak into. It hasn’t been a problem yet- but it’s suspiciousEnjoy! And definitely leave your containers on the counter top for a bit to thaw before running it through to get the creamiest texture

OMG – BUY THIS!!!Simply put : EXCELLENT!!! I truly cannot believe the quality of the ice cream and sorbet I am getting out of this machine! It is out of this world! It’s hard to believe, and it doesn’t occur very often, but once in a while you get something that actually does what it says it does and this is one of those items. There is a ton of information on YouTube- videos et cetera, that will give you a bit more info about the unit. The directions for the various ice creams et cetera have been spot -on, I’ve had no issues whatsoever. Follow the formula do it they say yeah great stuff. The most pleasant surprise out of this was not the ice cream or sorbet if you will that I was getting from the recipes but the taste of just plain fruit such as bananas and strawberries frozen up. It tasted just unbelievable! 90% banana 10% strawberry, best stuff in the land and so healthy for you . I’ve yet to try the milkshakes but I’m sure they’ll be just as good as they said – this product is everything it says it is and obviously for 200 bucks it’s a little bit hard to believe I could do all that but I’m here to tell you it does that! I’m not a cook, I burn water , the thing is just the bomb!!
