Very creamy ice creamThis was our first ice cream maker and I found it easy to use and enjoy. We made vanilla and then strawberry following the proportions in the back of the manual. This ice cream maker works on your countertop. First, you freeze the large tub in your freezer for 8-12 hours. When it is ready, you mix up your milk, cream and sugar. We used whole milk and heavy cream for added richness and softness. I used milk and cream that were cold. I think it might also be smart to have a cold bowl to mix them in but I just used a room temp glass bowl. For strawberry, we used mashed up strawberries and vanilla extract for the vanilla. If all the ingredients are not cold after mixing, the manual says to get them down to fridge temperatures. Then you pour the mixture into the maker while the churn part is running. It took about 35-45 minutes and you get a very rich, creamy ice cream. I found that storing leftover ice cream ends with it being a bit too hard for my taste so it was best to make just as much as we would be able to eat. For two adults and two children, one batch was a little more than necessary. When I told my wife and kids that we should just eat the rest, they all were quite happy to finish it off.We were able to make two batches in one day. I washed the freezing drum with cool water and then put it back in the freezer for several hours and was able to make a second batch in the evening. You will not be able to churn out (haha) too many batches so this machine might not make enough for larger families.I will soon try frozen custard, which I have wanted to do for a long time. Overall, if you know what you are getting from this machine, I think it is perfectly fine. The biggest weakness is the the churn parts are plastic and there is some chance of them breaking, although the machine is supposed to compensate for this by reversing direction if the mix becomes too thick. The other detraction is that the edges of the tub get a thin layer that is too icy to be tasty so there is some wastage.

Best things come to those who wait. For someone who doesn’t enjoy a lot of Keto Ice cream alternatives this machine will/has saved me some money. I don’t have to pay 8$ for a small pint of keto friendly ice cream. I’ve make a Strawberry and Banana flavor thus far and both results were surprisingly good.Pro’s:-It does in fact, make ice cream, not soup.-The results are akin to soft serve but, can be frozen afterwards for a more traditional hardness.-The maker it self can be taken a part piece by piece making it very easy to clean-It’s decently a set- and-forget item for 45 min. If you have some house chores or whatever to do, you don’t need to keep a eye on this maker as it goes.- Manual comes with recipes.Con’s:-This isn’t great for people on time crunches. One batch takes 45min at least to get to that soft-serve consistency. Then further freezing to get a more store bough tub resemblance.-The motor on this maker is LOUD. I could hear it through out the apartment with door closed.Overall, this maker isn’t great for people who are looking for fast results. If you have kids I rather suggest the cheaper and more interactive, rolling the ingredient can within a coffee can filled with rock salt and ice approach. Also helpful tip pre-freeze the freezer mixing bowl. Put the bowl into the freezer and it’s ready by the next day, or just leave it in there for a later date. Also buying the frozen whipped cream/Cool Whip and using this does yield better results.

Works well and easy to use but a little loud; paddle seems to scratch the bowl when in useThis ice cream maker works well and is easy to use. The bowl is put in the freezer for at least 8-12 hours before making ice cream. After the bowl is prepped, whip up your favorite ice cream recipe, turn the ice cream maker on by turning to the desired churn time, and pour the mixture into the activated ice cream maker through the opening. After 45 minutes, ice cream consistency is like soft serve. I typically transfer my finished ice cream to a freezer safe bowl and freeze it a little longer for a more semi firm texture. I noticed afterward, the paddle seems to be scratching the bowl during use. It also was usually loud. Not a deal breaker, but would have been nice for it to be a little quiter. I like that I can just dump and go while it does its thing. The assembly is easy to clean up. I usually keep the bowl in the freezer so whenever I want to make some ice cream, it’s ready.Overall, this is a decent ice cream maker that works well outside of the paddle scratching the bowl.

Gets the job done but takes longer than expectedI’ve been wanting an ice cream maker for quite some time. I used to own one that used rock salt and ice with a hand crank. It made really good ice cream but was way too much work. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been whipping the cream and freezing it in Mason jars. It tastes good, but frequently there were too many crystals, and the texture was off. I tried one of these too, but it was much smaller and didn’t produce much in a single batch. This machine produces double what that machine made. All the necessary parts come in the box along with some nice extras including a measuring cup and spatula. You do need to put it together (takes less than a minute), but it is simple and there are no tools required. You also need to take it apart for cleaning. I like that the motor completely detaches which makes it easier to clean. Everything fits inside for storage.Making the ice cream takes some preplanning since the bowl must be placed in the freezer ahead of time. I’d recommend at least 12 hours. I would also freeze the paddle attachment and the storage container to get everything as cold as possible.I made my ice cream mixture about 12 hours in advance as well. I placed that in the coldest part of the fridge. I also refrigerated the chocolate shavings I was adding in. When I began making the ice cream the mixture was at 37oF. The instructions said to assemble the machine, turn on the motor and pour the mixture into it from the hole on the top to prevent the mixture from freezing to the sides of the bowl. Next, I set the timer for 45 minutes (the longest time available). I checked it every ten minutes in case it froze faster than expected. It did not. In fact, I added an extra 20 minutes to the timer once it finished because the cream was still not frozen.By this time, it was getting thicker, and a quick check of the temperature indicated it was 31oF. I poured it into the storage container, cover it, and placed it in the freezer overnight. The next evening, it was ice cream, and it was delicious. It seems like a decent-quality appliance, but it takes up a lot of freezer space. I made less than a quart of ice cream in my test batch and it took 65 minutes to get ready. Now I’m hesitant to make a larger batch because I’m wondering if it will freeze at all. But I will be trying it.Overall, this machine has a higher capacity than others I see advertised on Amazon. It is also slightly higher priced. It takes longer than expected to produce ice cream.

Hopes DashedWith two toddlers in our household there are two things that are universally true – 1) New crafts are a must and 2) ice cream is all the rage. Given that is the case, we were hopeful this device could add some family fun to our lives with the payoff being a tasty dessert we could all enjoy. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The downfall of this product is that it can’t be used spontaneously in any capacity. The components of the ice cream maker and the ingredients must be frozen well in advance of using the ice cream maker, and even after doing so there is no guarantee you will end up with ice cream after using this product. It will get *close* to making ice cream after running the machine, but (as another reviewer notes) it never really gets cold enough to get all the way there. As a result, the ice cream mixture almost always has to be removed and placed in the freezer before true ice cream status is achieved.Do you ultimately get ice cream from using proper ingredients and this product? Sure… but is it a spontaneous craft or easy to use? No, it isn’t. A few changes would make this great, but in its current form it doesn’t rise above a middle-of-the-road product. Unfortunately, that likely means it will be something we use a few times before it ends up collecting dust until we purge unnecessary gadgets from the kitchen. I wish that wasn’t the case, but it’s the most likely outcome… Disappointing, to say the least.

This treat requires some work to get it ready..This product requires the mixing bowl to be put in the freezer which takes a long time to get down to the required temperature; the directions are very difficult to follow, so not very useful. It works well enough and the ice cream it makes was tasty and gobbled by the children. May want to consider keeping the bowl in the freezer so it is cold enough to use next time you want to make ice cream.

We all scream for home made ice cream!Nice ice cream maker. All the parts are detachable and easy to clean. Instuction manual easy to understand. To remove the ice cream bowl, it was as easy as lifting the black plastic piece on top. Instructions said to leave the freezer bowl for 8-12 hours prior to use but its more on the high end at 12 hours to get good results for ice cream. The sound of the motor is not too loud at all. This comes with a plastic ice cream scooper. For its size this ice cream maker is good for 4 people servings.

This takes a long time to freeze. You have to take out the inner bowl and it recommends to freeze for at least 8-12 hours. I froze it for 28 hours. After setting up the machine, I put in the mixture which should take 45 minutes to make. I ended up doing three 45 minute sessions, at which point it was still very liquidly. I ended up taking the freezer bowl out and putting it back in the freezer with the ingredients included. Took about an hour to freeze up that way.

Great and does the jobThis is my first time using an ice cream maker. Overall, it really does the job and can really make real ice cream from very simple ingredients. It was easy to operate and install and you really don’t need to have an experience to know how to operate it since its very intuitive. With the help of someone who has been working in this field a little bit, I simply added, Heavy Whipping Cream + fat free sweetened condensed milk to the freezer bowl. Just make sure you follow the instructions and put the freezer bowl in the freezer for 8-12 hours before adding the ingredients and start mixing. You can add whatever flavor you want to the mix above like vanilla, chopped fruits, melted chocolate etc. You can make the blender works for like up to 45 minutes. I was able to get it to the required thickness which was very comparable to the ready ice cream you eat outside and it was great with professional ice cream texture. I was really impressed. I stopped the blender before 45 minutes since it was thick enough and also to preserve the motor’s from blending heavy and very solid and thick mix.The quantity was really enough for a family of 4 and you can put the remaining in the freezer. If you don’t want to add normal sugar and want to add sugar healthy alternatives instead like stevia, you can replace the Fat Free Sweetened Condensed Milk with evaporated milk and then add your stevia or the likes to the mix since Condensed Milk does not come unsweetened according to my research. Make sure you clean all items before your first use except the motor.

Very good machine — if you know what to expectI think some reviewers have unrealistic expectations for an ice cream maker. I’ve had several over the years — a rock salt and crank classic as well as a few electric models — so I knew what to expect, and this machine makes several improvements over typical machines, though it has not achieved perfection. The bowl can be lifted out using the rim of the housing, which is nice, and the bowl is relatively big, allowing for larger batches. Also, several helpful accessories are included — a scoop, wooden paddle and an extra spindle. Another welcome innovation is the detachable motor, which makes cleaning easier. There’s no improvement on the paddle, though, which is shaped to churn well but makes getting frozen material off difficult, and the recipe book is pretty lame. The big disadvantage of DIY ice cream makers is that you have to plan ahead. The churning bowl needs to be in the freezer at least 12 hours and the ice cream mixture needs to be made 6-12 hours ahead of time, then cooled. That’s not a manufacturing flaw. It’s a matter of physics. And yes, right out of the machine the consistency is more like soft serve ice cream; to achieve a firmer texture you need to freeze it for a little while. That is true of all i.c. makers, so it seems unfair to dock a perfectly good device because your expectations were unrealistic ….The big ADVANTAGE of DIY ice cream makers is that it is creamier than anything at the grocery store and YOU CAN MAKE ANY FLAVOR YOU CAN IMAGINE! You can make peanut butter ice cream with a jelly swirl. You can make chocolate-hazelnut ice cream or a Cosmopolitan sorbet or tiramisu or egg nog or cinnamon or coffee. Heck, if the dog’s been extra good you could make liver-flavored with bacon bits! You can make sorbet or frozen custard or ice cream or frozen yogurt. So unless you have a remarkable gelateria down the block this is a very nice machine that is somewhat better than most available machines in the same price range.
