So awesome that I bought 2 of these inside of a week!I just turned 40 and realized that I better get it together when it comes to my health since both of my parents had cancer. I bought one of these units when staying out in Michigan with my husband. I couldn’t bear looking at another pasty white overweight person over there before I decided that I will NOT become one of them — obese, unhealthy, unfocused…pitiful in general. (I live in Southern California where it’s mostly a health conscious place.) Anyway, I fell in LOVE with this juicer from the very minute I started using it that I immediately bought another one for my house in California, making sure it was shipped and waiting for me for when I finally got back home. Now, a little background…I have owned at least 3 juicers. My most expensive juicer was around $600. The cheapest was around $200. Each model was heavy, clunky, hard to use, and reminded me of a commercial juicer that you’d use in a juice shop rather than something you can easily use, clean, and move on your personal kitchen counter. Yet there were no other models available…Until this one!My other juicers? They are in “cabinet purgatory” collecting dust. They are too heavy and hard to clean that I would only last a few days on my “new leaf” juicing stint before wanting to clear the R2D2 space-consuming machine off my counter. The expensive models are huge and take up a big chunk of the counter top not to mention how most of them are white in color and matches nothing else in my kitchen. What an eye sore!I was VERY dubious when I got this unit. For the price? It has to be a POS, right? Not! It’s a pretty freaking awesome little machine for a number of reasons:1) Lightweight.2) Small – doesn’t consume a square mile on your counter top.3) Attractive exterior to match your toaster, coffee maker, etc.4) Easy to break apart, clean, then put back together again.5) Powerful enough to make a cup of juice or more each day.If I had to complain about one thing it would be that the snout for pushing the veggies in is a tad narrow, requiring cutting everything down to smaller pieces. (There is a slight solution for that. I get organic baby carrots and that seems to work out well.) And if you’re thinking about using this to open a juice shop, think again. It’s not quite THAT powerful (but powerful enough for home use). For the people leaving negative reviews, I’m gathering that they are lazy and don’t want to clean the unit immediately after use (which is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, by the way) so everything will become a near-permanent fixture on/in the machine without quick and instant cleaning after use.The cost of health and preserving against major health catastrophes in the future requires a little time and effort. If people can drive to McDonald’s, they can bust out this juicer and create a healthful drink that can potentially save their lives now and in the future. Both my parents had cancer. My mom didn’t survive. She passed 9 years ago next month. She tried both chemotherapy AND radiation (at the same time) and was gone within 5 months. So much for “traditional” medicine. My dad was in stage 4 prostate cancer a little more than 3 years ago. They removed what they could and suggested radiation. He refused. Instead he juiced and juiced and juiced for a solid 3 months, going with an almost all-juice diet. When they ran his post-surgery blood tests, all traces of cancer were completely GONE as if it was never in his body to begin with. Even the doctor was in disbelief. My dad has stayed on a consistent juicing regimen since then and has been cancer-free for over 3 years. I guess going “unconventional” is the route to take these days. It can save your life.Anyway, get this juicer. It costs less than a dinner for 2 at your local sit-down restaurant so…what do you have to lose?By the way, I’ve been juicing for a couple of weeks now. I got off caffeine and all over-the-counter sleeping aids. (Never thought I’d be able to do it.) I started going through killer withdraws then started juicing and it took the headaches away. I started gaining this awesome “smooth” natural energy and an overall change in my well being. My depressive symptoms have drastically subsided (since I have depression issues) and I feel enthusiastic and motivated for life again. No, I’m not in this for weight loss or any other shallow reason people juice. I am in it for a change in lifestyle and I found some incredible changes by just juicing organic carrots, celery, and apples (but mostly carrots) for the past couple of weeks. I hope you go for it and make these changes for yourself too, especially if you’re lethargic, depend on caffeine and/or sleeping medications, and have found that you feel life sucks. Maybe you just need some juice and it’ll be all good!Get this juicer if you’re not sure if you want to do long-term juicing so you can try out the process (and the juice) without having to take out a loan for a more expensive juicer. And…if you decide that you want to dedicate your life to juicing, you’ll probably give this one away in 90 days and upgrade to a better version. This will be your “tester” model. 🙂

Does the jobIt does the job. I use it for carrots juice mainly. Good speed, easy to use. But a bit messy to clean.

Works good so farThis is my first juicer, so my review is based on being a juicing newbie. I’m happy with it. It’s very easy to set up and use. It doesn’t seem noisy; much less than a typical blender. I am being gentle with it, I don’tseem to need to force produce through, it just seems to do it effectively maybe with a little push just to get the pieces down to the grater. The pulp seems dry to me, and I get a lot of juice, actually I was shocked how much juice I got from a small quantity of produce. Works fast. Easy to disassemble and clean. There’s pulp bits here and there, but no big deal to just wipe up with a sponge. I hand wash, no dishwasher. The juice is delicious and I was surprised, there remains a lot of soluble fiber still, so no worries you aren’t getting any fiber. I have surgeries that make insoluble fiber painful for me, so this is a great solution. Seems like an excellent way for a newbie to start out juicing with good results.

Quiet, low cost juicer, but it seems to have lost it’s oomph after 2-3 months.UPDATE: I must add that within 2-3 months of using almost daily, the basket did indeed begin leaking juice over the sides, wasting precious, pricey juice. I don’t know what happened, as I’m very careful with my appliances, but perhaps it’s simply the daily use of removing & replacing the basket multiple times, which seemed to leave it a bit crooked at the top. Honestly, when I first got the machine, the basket was so tight, it was almost impossible to remove, so perhaps I had a faulty unit or that’s what one gets with an inexpensive juicer? Also, at the same time, the veggie pulp began being filled with juice (so I didn’t get dry pulp, but more like stew), so much more than before that I did notice I wasn’t getting a full glass of juice & my trash needed to be taken out immediately… even though I threw the pulp into layers of newspapers & double plastic bagged it… otherwise it would leak red beet juice through the plastic garbage bags & drip. In fact, before I noticed it the 1st time, it ruined a long kitchen runner. Very, very disappointing. It’s been packed away for 6-mos, as all of my belongings are in storage, but I will try it again once settled. If it’s still leaking or not extracting juice properly, I’ll discard the machine or perhaps donate it to the Goodwill. I’ll update once that happens. Maybe there is a reason people invest in $$$ juice extractors. Discouraging, as I thought I had a goldmine deal & genuine bargain here. We’ll see…*** Below is my original review, unedited, but I downgraded my rating from 5 stars to 2, because I expected last longer than 3-mos. ***You can surely trust previous reviewers… this juicer is fantastic! I just began juicing again to boost my immune system & hopefully, drop a few pounds & was a bit trepidatious about a low-cost, basic model, but I wanted fresh, not bottled or canned, for maximum nutrients. The allure was that it’s budget friendly & the reviews are great, so I decided to trust the Black & Decker name. Glad I did!It does not jump around or slide at all when in use & I even use it on a bar towel to catch any spills (which you’d think would make it slippery… not so)… a previous $44 Oster needed to be placed on a non-slip rubber pad & it still jumped about like a 5-yr old on a sugar cookie high. In all fairness, that Oster was purchased 25-yrs ago, so perhaps they’ve all improved over time or I just had a wonky unit. Also, it’s QUIET… so unlike my last, which sounded like an outboard motor on my counter top. This model is not a little quiet… it’s COMPLETELY quiet. My cheap Oster blender makes 10 times the noise of this baby. Liquid also doesn’t seep over from anywhere (yep, you guessed it, a problem with the previous, but not the B&D).The best? I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to make early morning, fresh juice without rattling the tenants underneath me out of bed at 5am, but it’s so quiet, it’s not a problem at all. I couldn’t make early morning fruit smoothies for that reason alone. Also, it doesn’t clog like my last or need to be emptied after just a few veggies. Honestly, I gave up on juicing because the last was so cumbersome, but I didn’t realize it was the low performance juicer causing the problem. This is what I’d hoped a juicer would be… inexpensive, quiet & works quickly & well.****************************************************Note: The following * paragraphs are a bit off-topic, but in the event it helps someone, I’ll go on… feel free to skip to the end.***************************************************** I haven’t made fruit juice, as I prefer to eat fruit, but it would surely juice nicely as it’s far less dense than vegs. I make vegetable juice twice/day (for the next few months, it will be my meal replacement) with 2-3 celery stalks/carrots/cabbage leaves, 4-6 Romaine lettuce leaves, 1 green pepper/beet/tomato, 1/2 cucumber, a handful of spinach & some cilantro. There’s still plenty of room in the waste container (about 1/4 room left) if I wanted to use more vegs, but, this amount fills a pint beer glass nicely (12-oz), which is just enough for me to quickly drink down.* I also squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon & add a bit of cayenne pepper/tobasco directly into the glass for better taste.* I figured out it costs $4.50-5 for 12-oz juice using the mix of vegs listed above. 1/2 of the vegs are organic & 1/2 of the vegs are far too pricey to justify organic costs. Mine are all store bought for now… I will be finding farmer’s markets asap to hopefully lower costs. Of course, if sticking to 1-2 vegs per juice, non-organic or if one has access to cheaper Costco/Sam’s Club vegs, it wouldn’t be so pricey. I somehow thought it would be far less expensive & honestly, I’m spending more for daily food than before (because I’m drinking juice for breakfast & lunch then eating a smaller portion of protein with 1 cooked veg for dinner). I usually eat salad daily, but with all the vegs I’m consuming, I have no craving for salad, just fish or lean beef. The benefit is I do feel better/healthier & in just a few days, it is quite addictive & I can’t wait to drink my juice, like a Brit waiting for tea time. I thought weight would drop off by ingesting mostly low cal vegs, but not yet (to be fair, it’s only day 3 & I’ll be inactive for awhile due to an injury). Maybe I’ll need to convert over to juice only for that to happen.* The veg fiber that catches in the container could be used for salsa, if desired. It’s not so dry that every ounce of moisture is gone. I’ve seen some recipes online. But, as mentioned above, I sincerely doubt anyone would want to eat it if drinking veg juice alone for 2 meals/day. Still, if one has a family, it might be used with some seasoning for stuffing a tomato or as garnish for a burrito, etc, for the family, so as not to go to waste.* Clean up is easy, but I recommend doing it immediately. I just rinse the pieces in hot water & only use soap every 4th time, generally as there are veg remnants I can’t remove. I bought a $1.50, hard bristle toothbrush at a discount store to clean the basket… it’s the only part which needs to be scrubbed. A baby bottle cleaner works well, too, mainly as the bristles are very stiff… it’s just a bit large & I get a lot of splashing, so I alternate between the 2.* As a last tip to those wishing for optimal health, please note that within 10-min, juice or even chopped vegs/fruits lose 40% of their nutrients. I have no idea how degraded they become if stored for hours/days in the fridge & I suppose it’s still better than frozen/canned/pre-made, but it’s good to know, especially if buying $$$ Whole Foods in-store-juiced drinks. Why bother… juice it at home & drink it right away, then forgo the vitamin supplements. It’s also more of a bother for some to juice multiple times/day, but I enjoy knowing I’m getting all my $’s worth out of my pricey produce.*****************************************************Last notes… I would highly recommend this juicer & I really do think the Black & Decker brand is very good, as I’ve had good luck with small, inexpensive products of theirs in the past, like a $15 electric drill purchased at a discount store. Some may be disappointed if they’ve previously owned $300+ juicers. I’m sure they are lovely (like comparing a Jaguar to a Geo)… but, I’d rather spend around $50 & put the other $250 towards vegs to put in my stomach.

Great Starter JuicerWorks great when you alternate fruit and vegetables by their texture, solids VS leafy. It is my first juicer and it serves its purpose. The thing that grinds the vegetables is a little hard to clean without an old brush or toothbrush.

Great for a starterHad for about 1 week. So far I have only been juicing celery. It leaves a lot of pulp that could be used for making broth. As of yet, no complaints.

Does a good job for the money – a great valueI’ve been using this juicer now for 5 days and have formed a pretty solid opinion of it.I was a little leery of purchasing such an inexpensive juicer since my only previous experience was with a big honker Breville Juice Fountain which is a real beast. But this little guy is impressing me.Now bear in mind that this guy cost me about 20% of what my Breville did 15 years ago, my expectations were lowered accordingly. But I have been pleasantly surprised by how well this compact juicer works.Of course as has been noted in almost every review, the feed chute is pretty small – tiny if you’re used to one like the Breville that will take a small apple whole. But once you get used to chopping things into reasonable size before juicing, it works at about 90% of the efficiency of the Breville. Taking into consideration the less powerful motor, I feed harder veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes pretty slowly, but as far as how much juice is extracted it holds its own. It is less efficient on softer fruits and veggies like cucumber or citrus since there is no speed adjustment and it chews through them perhaps too quickly, but again it works pretty darn well for the price.Yes, it does tend to have a little bit of an odor like the motor is being over-taxed when juicing hard veggies but so far it hasn’t caused a failure or slowdown in performance. I hope it’s not an indication that the motor just isn’t up to the task, but if it lasts me a year juicing once or twice a day I think I will have gotten my money’s worth. So if you don’t mind spending an extra 5 minutes or so chopping things into smaller pieces (the chute is u-shaped, like smile, and is about 2-3 cm wide and about 5-6 cm across) it does the job pretty well. As far as cleaning, it is very comparable to the Breville (the basic design is very similar). Just plan on spending about 5-10 minutes cleaning everything off after every use (and half of that is scrubbing the extractor with a toothbrush to get everything out of the strainer). If you’re on the fence about getting into juicing and looking for an inexpensive way to get started, I think theBlack & Decker JE2200B is a solid choice – you can always pick up a new or used Breville later if you find you really like it and/or you’re doing a LOT more juicing than the average person. And if you’re in a REAL hurry to get started or just want to check one out in person, I found that my local Wal-Mart has them on the shelf so you might check that out (but you will pay a little more vs. Amazon).Added October 7th:I have been using this juicer once or twice a day now for almost a month and my opinion hasn’t changed much. The initial smell when juicing went away after about the second week which leads me to believe it was some kind of extra lubricant in the motor that was burning off. Didn’t ever effect the taste of the juice, it just smelled like the motor was burning up but obviously that wasn’t the case as it still works good.As others have noted, there is some discoloration to the black plastic bits that regularly come into contact with the juice, especially under the juicing blades/strainer part (the part that spins). This also happened on my other juicer and I think it is due to staining from the veggies like beets, carrots and sweet potatoes that have a lot of color in their juice.Another issue that some reviewers have noted is that the basket seems to get a little “unbalanced” over time and shakes the juicer around a bit (and make a loud noise) as it is slowing down after you shut it off. Again, it hasn’t seemed to effect performance and it is not hitting the sides of the juicing piece so I’m not too concerned, just hang onto it as it’s stopping. So far it has served me well considering the use it has seen and hopefully it will last me until I either get bored of juicing or step up to a larger, more powerful machine. At this stage I would still recommend it to anyone wanting to try out juicing without making a huge initial investment (save your money for your fruits and veggies and a good knife).

Bien el diseñoEs perfecto para sacar jugo pero para quitar la tapa para lavarlo es incómodo deberían ponerle algo más práctico y no a presión y otra cosa debería ser más ancho el orificio por dónde se meten para exprimir es muy angosto

Get what you pay for!Ill start with saying this is a good (not great) juicer. But for the price, I have not seen better… I have owned 5 Juicers from this $40 centrifugal juicer to a $400 masticating juicer. All have pluses and minuses. Most centrifugal juicers will give you much cleaner juice (less pulp) where masticating juicers will give you a much higher yield and dryer pulp but a lot of pulp also makes it into your juice. But, again, for the most part… you get what you pay for. NOW, about this specific juicer:Assembly /disassembly – Very standard for any spinner. Locking mechanism prevents machine turning on if not properly assembled.Cleaning – Cleaning is always a pain in the A** no matter what juicer you have and anyone who tells you different is either lying to you or selling you. So anyone who says this product is terribly difficult to clean,,, they all are. This one is pretty standard. Dishwasher safe is nice but you will have to do a fair amount of pre cleaning on the mesh blade. A sprayer works nice or a soft brush.Power – With a sharp blade (they last a good 6 months with heavy use and are cheep to replace) this has enough power to juice all soft fruit and veggies as well as harder things like broccoli trunks, sweet potatoes, ginger, etc. Leafy greens are no problem but I often get better results when I put something solid in with them. If you just drop in leafy greens alone they tend to just take a hit from the blades and much of it just spin out. Throw a carrot in at the same time as your spinach and youll get better results.Juice vs pulp – This juicer will get you pretty clean juice with minimal pulp in it. The extracted pulp is a little wet but I can live with that for a $40 juicer. It has some issues with really small wet fruit (blue berries, grapes, pomegranate)Cons – My biggest issue with this juicer is the feed tube. It is strangely curved and small making it very difficult to do any “Bulk” juicing ( enough to make a gallon+ for the week). Many people like to juice fresh everyday because they feel that they receive better fresher nutrients. I envy the amount of free time you have in your life if you can juice every day, but if you do, the feed tube probably wont bother you. You just need to do a little extra prep cutting to get your fruit and veggies small enough to fit the tube. Again, you dont get MAXIMUM juice extraction, but it is still fine unless you need your pulp bone dry and plan to make veggie burgers out of it!Pros- I purchased this in a pinch as one of my other juicers broke and I wanted something cheep to get me through the next few months. This was a good find! I still have it and use it occasionally when I want to do some small stuff for a dinner or make popsicles. I have had it for 2 years now and still havnt had to replace the blade but I dont use it often. It is small and I can keep it on a shelf in my kitchen. Once again, the juice is nice and pretty pulp free. Try using this to make tomato juice to supplement your pasta sauce! Throw in a touch of garlic and some basil and cook it down and your good to go!!!

Awesome Juicer for the PriceI’m sure a lot of people realize the benefit of juicing but few rarely follow through with the program. My father has extremely high blood pressure but have been to stubborn to do anything about it. A near blackout one morning though changed all that. I’ve been looking for juicing recipes that help lower blood pressure and they were quite easy to find. Choosing a juicer though was much, much more tougher!I knew $50 was the absolute limit for me as we didn’t need a 1000w machine that can extract juice from cement bricks. A decent juicer that allows us to extract juice from the usual fruits and vegetables would do the job. Finally, I settled with the Black & Decker JE2200B. It looked sturdy enough, has good reviews and doesn’t break the bank.I’m sure any juicer out there that is anything but near the $400-$500 mark will be noisy. Surprisingly, this unit was semi-decent. It’s still loud but it is definitely tolerable. Depending on your living quarters though, it’s hard to tell whether they will hear it or not. For me, I’m sure they definitely will know when I’m juicing but again, it’s not too bad. I expected worst. The machine has about 3 major assembly parts.Good news is that taking them apart as well as putting it back together is extremely simple. Two latches is all that secures the parts together. Once they are unhooked, the parts can be disassembled. For many, the ease of the cleanup process is very important and I agree as well. Luckily, the machine is fairly simple to clean. The hardest part to clean up is the steel cutter/strainer. The strainer will basically be covered in tiny pieces of pulp and so you’ll have to either soak it for some time or use a toothbrush to clean it. The rest of the other parts can be cleaned with a simple rinse of the water after you discard the pulp first. As for juicing, I’m quite satisfied with it except for one thing. I notice that the pulp feels fairly wet after extraction, which leads me to believe that more could be squeezed out of it. But looking at the actual amount of juice I got out, I believe it was pretty decent. It’s hard to tell because I’m no juicing expert. The one thing I do wish for is for a slightly bigger area for me to dump the fruits and vegetables in. It would have been awesome if the shape of where you threw in your food was circular rather in some odd looking shape.. Finally, the cup that came with this machine to hold your juice is fairly useless as its so tiny! After juicing a couple pieces of vegetables, the cup was already filled to the top due to the foam.As expected, you really shouldn’t use this juicer for an extended amount of time. I definitely notice a slight burning smell probably due to the motor working overtime. All in all, I’m very happy with the purchase. For the price I paid, it felt like a steal. It’s obviously not perfect but it gets the job done. Juicing is not cheap but if you stick with it, I’m sure you’ll have a much stronger body!
