Super loud and hard to clean** UPDATE **…ugh! It just broke! Super frustrating – I just stocked up on all of the veggies I just can’t seem to eat otherwise (ie kale)…and my juicer broke! The motor started smoking while trying to juice a carrot. Have to knock this down to 1 star.** ORIGINAL **There are a number of things I had wished I had known prior to settling on this juicer:- It’s super duper loud. No, I mean it’s reeeaaaalllly loud. It sounds like a wood chipper. It’s louder than my food processor, my blender…even drowns out my 10 month old. Especially loud when juicing apples or carrots.- It has suction cup feet for a reason. Sometimes when juicing hard fruits or veggies, the machine kicks back so hard it shoots the plunger back up at you and makes an awful thump. I imagine this is because the motor is so powerful, but it scared the crap out of me the first time it happened.- It wasn’t designed to be easy to clean. There are 8 pieces to take apart and wash. The top portion with the chute is the most difficult. There are a lot of little crevices that are super hard to get into and clean. Some so hard, I’ve just had to accept that that tiny piece of green stuck in the corner is now permanently part of the machine (I even tried using a nipple brush the size of a pipe cleaner to no avail). Also, there are these sharp pointy pieces of plastic that jut out from inside the chute (I’m sure it has something to do with stopping the plunger) but I’ve busted my knuckles more than once on it while washing it. It’s very frustrating.- The entire unit is pretty tall. It does not fit under my kitchen cabinets. Some good things I’ve noticed:- The motor seems really powerful. If this means the juicer can take what I throw at it and lasts me a good long while, I’m happy.- The chute is wide. You can toss in whole apples and pears. While a nice feature, I also think some of the design issues are because of it (there is a chute within a chute – you remove the inner one when you want to juice large items – this is where the pointy knucklebuster is). Turns out since I prep, peel, and wash all of my produce for the week at the same time, cutting an apple in half really isn’t a big deal.- The pulp catcher has a large capacity.

Good juice, OK juicer, lots to clean! If juice is your goal, you’ve come to the right spot. This thing does well separating the juice from rest of the stuff. There’s not much dry material compared to the volume admitted into the wide-mouth feeder. And, depending your preference, the juice jug does a good job separating any thick foam from the true juice (personally, the more the merrier, so I like all of it, but if you just want the juicy juice, the separator does a good job).Over all the performance is what you’d expect…fast and relatively efficient. Its definitely noisy (hard to avoid when you’ve got something spinning that fast) and pretty bulky (takes up a lot of counter and cabinet space). However, the nice addition of the suction cups on the base unit keep it from “walking” all over the counter and the two speed motor ensures the maximum juice is extracted in the shortest time.My biggest issue with the Juiceman 550 is that there’s A LOT to clean…unfortunately that’s de rigueur with juicers. If someone can come up with a low maintenance, easy to clean juicer, I’ll buy it for twice the price! For now, this thing is relatively easy to clean up (although the strainer is a bit persnickety).Buy it. Juice with it. Enjoy!

SurpriseHaving been an advocate of juicing and the The Juiceman II which I own and used for over twelve years, I was excited with what I thought would be a great upgrade. The machine was everything I imagine it would be and it was great for about three weeks. Then to my surprise the circular tube on the juice bowl that supports the blade snapped off during hand washing? I contacted the company through their website about this. I got a computer generated reply that in 48 business hours they would address this issue, (still waiting 8 days later). The machine in my estimation could and would earn 5 stars, customer service as of right now 0 stars. I will most likely end up buying a juice bowl replacement but will never recommend as I have in the pass any Juiceman products because of their lack of customer service.

Turn switch broke after 4 usesI chose this Juicer because it was pretty and looked like it required less prep due to the wide feed opening. My old one was the Original Juiceman, that had been passed down to me. I was the 3rd owner and it worked great. I just wanted to have an even better one. I was so excited when my new Juiceman juicer arrived, and I couldn’t wait to use it. Initially, I was shocked at the loudness of it. So loud I felt guilty using it in the morning because I didn’t want to wake anyone. Also, the safety trap door separating the produce from the blades was not very smooth. I felt like I had to force the food into the thing with a bit of strength. But the reason I am writing this review, is because I am disappointed that I had to return the juicer this morning because a cheap plastic part – the turn switch – broke after only 4 uses! The worst part? I had to pay $54 dollars to pack and ship it back to Amazon, and they estimate the cost of shipping to be $14.14. So that’s $40 out of my pocket. I like this brand, but not this juicer.

Nope!I bought this juicer based on Consumer Report’s rating (best for the money I was willing to spend).I read the reviews here on Amazon and thought, ‘those people are just being picky.’ Nope!I loved juicing, and I will be purchasing another juicer soon. This was my first juicer, and I returned it to Amazon after 30 days because it began making a loose-screw noise inside the unit. Yes, I probably could’ve tightened the screw inside (if that’s really what the problem was – sure sounded like it), but after a month of average usage, should I really need to? I didn’t think so.That’s why I returned it. The reason I won’t buy another is because:- It IS hard to clean! Egads! So many moving parts!- In just a few weeks, the fitting for the pulp receptacle became misaligned, and pulp spewed everywhere.- It was really loud. Seriously.- And lastly, of course, there was the loose screw.Thumbs down from this first-timer.

juiceman reviewI have spent lots of money buying different juicers. Most of the juicers were expensive, close to $600 and some around $300+. These juicers don’t compare to the Juiceman JM550s in efficency and price. For just $100+, you get way better juicing without all the hazzles of cleaning afterwards. It’s very easy to clean and you get lots of juice and small amount of pulp. I love it! The only thing I would recommend is the manufacture developing a DVD on disengaging the lid locking lever. Once you figure how to lower the lid locking lever, everything else is great, but you have to figure how to do this. In the book it doesn’t deal with this well.

second juicerMy first juicer arrived and was very well packed. I used it twice and had a problem with being able to take it apart for cleaning. I also had a problem when I put my veggies in it made a loud noise and I thought it was going to take off at one time.I shipped it back to Amazon and the day they picked it up, a new one arrived and seems fine so far. The only thing I do not like about it, it is tall and will not go under my kitchen wall cupboards. I had the smaller model before this which I had and used every day for 7 years. I chose this one to be able to put larger pieces of fruit through.

Not like its predecessors. Was big fan of the Juiceman II. With this one, however, the motor is stalling and smelling like burning. Haven’t used it that much. I’m using it correctly. I’d call, but not worth the upsetment that I’m imaging. Researching for another juicer…

JuicemanYou won’t go wrong with owning this machine. unless it comes defective from the manufacturer then it is as is. Return it. But , get another one. The benefits of owning one severely outnumber not havingthis juicer. You’ve earned it. Give yourself that chance.

I should have done more research. It’s way, way loud. It is way, way, way difficult to clean. See a video of others operating. After 2 stressful months of weekly usage we put it on the basement shelf and bought a different brand.
