Good but slow speed is not slowI bought this due to the amount of cooking and wanting a hand held, sturdy mixer. Honestly, I am a little disappointed since the low speed is pretty fast for mixing ingredients at the beginning of baking. I bought it to subsidize my Kitchen Aid large mixer as I thought it would be easy and good. I think my large mixer works better (of course) and I may not drag this out very often. I may change this review but so far, doesn’t seem to help me in the kitchen. I will say that if you do not have a large Kitchen Aid mixer, or you have to drag it in and out of a cupboard, this does seem powerful Also, is said it was 350 watts but it is only 300. It now seems to say 300.

Flawed Switch DesignThough it has some good qualities, the Dualit 88520 has a couple of important flaws. It is comfortable in the hand, powerful and drives flat-bladed beaters, rather than wire ones, which means that it mixes/whips things more quickly. I haven’t tested it on dough yet, but I assume that it will also mix stiffer dough than mixers with less power. The two problems are with the on/off/speed control switch. The switch, which is designed to be operated with the thumb of the hand holding the mixer, is so stiff that when one finally pushes it hard enough to turn it on, it jumps to the 2 or 3 speed position, rather than starting at 1. So if you start with the beaters in whatever flour or liquid you want to mix, the mixer splatters it all over. The second problem is that even when you get the speed back down to 1, it is still too fast. The mixer we replaced had a low speed which was much slower than the Dualit. When I contacted the service agency, they said that they had had other complaints about this same problem. There is no fix. Dualit needs to re-engineer this mixer’s switch. Until they do, I suggest that you buy something else.

Built to lastThis mixer is quiet, has very sturdy beaters, and all the power you need. I bought it after going thru 3 mixers in 3 years, even Cuisinart. And I usually use the mixer 1-2 times a week for make potatoes and cookies. Its design is quite convenient. It stands nicely on end between tasks, and is well balanced for easy handling. Worth the money.

Solid qualityWe’ve burned through hand mixers in the past very quickly with our home bakes. But this one already feels solid. Good weight in the hand and the motor sounds great. I only wish I could get attachments that come with a silicone coating or something so we can use it in our pans that are prone to scratch.

Just like my old one – YayMy old Dualit hand mixer failed after many years of heavy use. The new one looks and feels just like the old one. Plenty of power. Feels good in the hand. Multiple speeds. Chrome finish. A little pricey, but worth it.Recommended.

Very Powerful!I have a home-based baking business, and I often do double, triple or even quadruple batches of cookies. I wasn’t sure a stand mixer would accommodate that volume, and I wasn’t quite ready to shell out the $$ for a stand mixer anyway, so I went with this hand mixer. I figured with comments like, “It’s almost TOO powerful” and “I wish it had a lower speed,” it might meet my needs. I am not a person to take out a for small jobs, anyway. This mixer has not disappointed! For larger volume projects, I am very pleased with its strength & capacity to mix stiff cookie dough. Highly recommend if that’s what you’re looking for!

Amazing quality and very powerfulI have been looking for a hand mixer for quite some time since my 30 year old mixer is about to go out. I have bought two recently that are just so lightweight and poor quality even though they were not cheap. I absolutely LOVE this mixer. I actually saw this brand on The Great British Baking show so I started researching it. I have no regrets at all. The utensils and beaters are very thick and strong. Work perfectly. I have made bread, cakes, cookies and all sorts of things. I bake often and definitely would highly recommend this mixer!

Only one of the mixer blades will stay inI know… I bought it in Oct 2020 after my hamilton beech mixer we got 30 years ago as a wedding present finally gave up the ghost. When it came I gave it a quick once over after washing the blades inserted them, ran it then put it away until last night. I was making brownies and finally had the chance to use it. I inserted the first blade getting a satisfying click but when I inserted the second it did not click? I turned it over and the blade fell right out. After looking at it I noticed one of the blades on the insert end had a small metal ring around it. After looking at both holes I could see the one on the right had the same small metal ring around the hole which holds the blade in place. Somehow the other one came out with the blade when I initially tried it. I have been trying to get it back in there but without pulling this apart I am out of luck. I am not sure what I will do since the return and initial warranty are expired…. It does feel kinda cheap in the hand but did mix the brownies with one blade. I thought getting the most expensive mixer I could find on Amazon wasnt the smartest move I could make but everything seems to be made to only last a few years unlike mo good ole 30 year old hamilton beech…. If you do buy this make sure you run it when you get it and insert/eject the blades a dozen times or so since I have seen others with the same issue.
