Timing per pound is way off from the guideSo easy to use, so easy to clean and with all the different racks very versatile.Only complaint is time listed in guide are way under calculated. For whole chicken it closer to 35 minutes per pound verses 20 mins listed in the guide also top amd bottom of meats tend to not cook as much as the rest..so u need to make sure with a while chick you try to pit legs on bottom and then tie drumsticks together and pull them so up as much as possible.. not an issue with a small hotel style (no legs or wings) turkey breast. So far no issues with meat roasts. Rack cooked and shiskabobs all fine. Again times list for different meats per pound not right. So a little patience and experimenting required. I good cooking times online for rotisseries and follow those guidelines rather than the book it came with. Good luck ! I love it alot as vertical cooking and the setup and cleanup beats a horizontal rotisserie hands down !!! I will definitely use this amd keep it !

Does not cook evenly at allI’ve made two whole chickens in this machine, the first one I made was about 3 pounds and the whole top was raw and jiggly. The second one I made was about 6 pounds and I made sure to move it down some and the top cooked, but the whole bottom of the chicken was raw and bloody even after 3 hours. If I had cooked it any longer, the skin would have burned off. We’re going to try it one last time with a 4 pound chicken, and will have to return if this happens again.

Update:Unfortunately, although I was very careful about not allowing any sharp or rough materials to touch the drip pan, the nonstick coating started peeling off in less than two months, and the pan is rusting. Disappointing. I hope the rest of it will last longer.I had a Sunbeam rotisserie for at least 20-25 years. The first 15 years or so, I only used it a few times a year, but the past 5-7 years, I used it at least 2-3 times every week. With that much usage, I changed the motor twice and would have changed it a third time, IF the part was still available. I loved the Sunbeam SO much, I refused to consider a different brand/model. I needed one with a basket for chicken quarters, not just the “tower” in the center for a whole chicken. Instead, I bought a “gently used” Sunbeam on eBay…..twice….the first one didn’t work at all, and the second one worked for about 30 minutes. Now I had no choice….a brand switch was now a must. Researched all of the vertical rotisseries I could find before finally deciding on this NutriChef. Boy, do I regret wasting money on those Sunbeam attempts. The Nutrichef cooks slightly slower, I’m assuming at a slightly lower temperature, so it takes slightly longer….BUT it also reduces the grease splatter, with just a simple wipe with a damp cloth all the cleanup necessary to keep it looking brand new. I used to have to disassemble and SCRUB the Sunbeam. The Sunbeam had a round open-top basket, instead of the square closed basket that comes with the NutriChef, but two leg quarters fit perfectly in this basket…..AND because of the open interior design of the rotisserie, I can still use my spare Sunbeam baskets also(remember, I have 3 of them now.) If this rotisserie lasts as long as my first one, I’ll be a very happy camper!

Easy to use!I wanted to replace my old metal tubed, glass-domed Sunbeam that would brown and crisp a whole chicken in an hour. This one is all plastic and doesn’t get hot enough in an hour, but if you have 2 hours to spare, it will roast a juicy chicken very well.

Slower than a crockpot! Don’t waste your money! This rotisserie does not deserve one star, it deserves a negative number of stars! I used this rotisserie for the first time tonight to cook a 4.5lb chicken. I had to trim the neck stub in order for the chicken to fit the height of the rotisserie. After two hours, I finally gave up and cut the chicken up and finished cooking it in the microwave (see pictures).I am so disappointed. I’ve had a Regal rotisserie for 18 years and could cook a six pound chicken in 40 minutes. The door wasn’t closing tight anymore and it was taking longer to cook so I decided it was time for a new one. What a mistake! I’m glad I hadn’t thrown it out.I could have roasted the bird in the oven for the time it was taking in the rotisserie.Other issues include a very small grease pan, no way to easily remove the chicken from the tray. I used the hook that came with my old rotisserie but it was difficult because the door doesn’t open at the top enough to reach in to lift the bird. This could be dangerous with the hot grease under the bird. The rotisserie came with skewers and a basket but the manual did not mention those items so you are left guessing how to assemble and use them.My recommendation—Don’t waste your money!UPDATE: I received a response from someone pretending to be from NutriChef but the phone number belongs to a company, Pyle Audio in NYC. I see that others got a response asking the to email someone at Pyle Audio. These messages are NOT from NutriChef so contact at your own risk. If you want to contact NutriChef, go to their website for a number. I am including the suspicious responses here. This was the message I got–“Hello first let me apologize for any frustration you experienced due to our product, I am very familiar with our NutriChef PKRT16BK Vertical Countertop Rotisserie and I assure you, I will troubleshoot and solve your issue or get you a new working replacement right away. Please email me directly at [email protected] or call 718-535-1800 extension 344″.Other messages to other buyers–“I work for NutriChef, I would love to troubleshoot and solve your issue or get you a working unit? Please email me directly at [email protected]“.Further update: even after my warning about the scam comments, I got a comment from someone offering to troubleshoot for me saying he was from Nutrichef but at a gmail account. Really??? Nutrichef has their own website, they don’t use gmail. Are these scam responses automated? why do they keep popping up? If you have a problem with your rotisserie, just return it to amazon, don’t be sucked into giving your information to a scammer.

Wonderful roast chicken. My old roaster died and I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to replace it so easily with Amazon.I have used the roaster just for chicken, but I am considering using it for kabobs. Maybe a small roast.But…..if I only roast chicken it is well worth the price.

Great RotisserieI love it had a similar one and it died when I needed one all I could find was a type that was horizontal not vertical never really liked it. It was produced my ex heavy weight champ it would click jump gear and set and burn up what ever was in it tossed it in trash few months back. saw this vertical style and have used it several times already.. did a couple of pork loins in it hung hot dogs on skewer plate and rods and they was great tasting it was like the ones off those roller grilles in the old days brined a turkey breast it melted in the mouth.. So many uses and easy as sin to clean love it and I am not a gadget guy it has to be of use for me to have it . I used my old vertical one to death .. It needs no instructions to set up if you have any concept of how one is supposed to work. put the roller rack in put pan of that then choose the type of vertical stand or rack you want to use plug it in set time and wait for the ding.(: that top plate and skewer rod are a great idea use them for corn on cob potatoes all kinds of uses ..

Terrible productThis is the worst rotisserie you could possibly buy. I don’t care how many 5 star reviews there are….they are probably fake. I placed a 3.5 pound chicken in and set the timer. It became apparent after half an hour that the machine does not cook evenly. I took the temperature in two different places…the breast and thighs differed by 20 degrees. I let it continue to cook hoping it would level out. It never did. Instead, the white meat was over cooked and dried out, the dark meat was pink and undercooked. I finished cooking the leg quarters in the oven and threw the rest out. Take a look at the photo of the “cooked” chicken so you can see how poorly this machine cooks. It looks like Donald Duck (shirt and no pants). Do not buy this piece of junk.
