Love this fountain. I ordered it for my son’s 9th birthday party and it was a hit with all of our guests. It was easy to set up and use. I used the Wilton chocolate and it melted and tasted great! Highly recommend. One tip is that it is preferable to finish all the chocolate in the fountain and wash right away. It is lots of work to clean if the chocolate cools off too much.

It’s a great product, just be sure to have a silky consistency of the chocolate otherwise you will get a bad result. I used the fountain chocolate and it worked good. I also tried the chocolate chips with some oil added and that worked just as good. Cleaning the base is the only pain in the potluck!

I purchased this chocolate fountain specifically for a birthday party, knowing that if it worked well, I would probably use it again for future family gatherings.
For the most part, it did the job. It was easy to assemble, most of the implements are easy to clean in the dishwasher(aside from the base) and it did the job. I chose to disregard the directions of using the Wilton Chocolate simply because it was not very high quality as far as chocolates go, and I used 3 Trader Joe’s Brand Dark Chocolate Pound Plus bars. I’ve been to plenty of restaurants that boasted a chocolate fountain only to find that the chocolate spewing from said fountain was grainy and unappetizing. I wanted to avoid that at all cost.
For every pound of chocolate I used, I added 5 tablespoons of corn syrup or maple syrup and 1 1/2 cups of heated heavy whipping cream along with 1/2 a teaspoon of sea salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. This ensured a very smooth and non-gritty chocolate formula. I pre-melted my chocolate in the microwave and premixed it with the above ingredients until well emulsified. This was then ladled into the base of the fountain after I set it to 10 minutes on the “preheat” setting.
The fountain includes adjustable legs similar to those on a washing machine, along with an alignment indicator in the back to insure proper positioning for optimum flow. This is a good feature. Over time, however(roughly an hour to an hour and a half) in operation, the chocolate in the fountain will gradually cool down and start to clump up, reducing the flow of the machine to an almost standstill. If you watch it carefully you can come in with a whisk, add some syrup and some cream in the bottom of the fountain and mix it around until incorporated. That will get it flowing again for another hour or hour and a half. Sadly, this fountain cannot be left alone for longer than that.
Other criticisms: the product would have benefited if the internal coil that pulls up the chocolate would have been made of metal that gradually heats up, instead of plastic. Product is a bit noisy, and once I turned the nozzle into the rather noisy flow positioning, I wished I had a faster flow nozzle for the same noise.
Product would benefit from a faster flow setting along with noise reduction.

Set up for a graduation party with approximately 150 people which contained a mixed age group audience from adult, teen, to child. I used 4 lbs initially but had to add 2 pounds half way through the event to keep it running smoothly. You need to keep it filled so there will be proportionate waste just for functionality. Clean up immediately when your done and cleans rather easily.

the chocolate bowl is not stainless still and is very rough aluminum and hard to clean.

Excellent product. Fountain noise is not very loud. Easy to set up. Easy to clean if you follow the directions correctly. Definitely worth spending a little bit extra money and buying this one. 5 stars

I ordered the Wilton Chocolate Pro 3-tier chocolate fountain to use at my son’s 16th birthday party. I was a little worried after reading some of the other reviews. But, I had the mind set that I would use it once, and if it didn’t work, I’d toss it in the trash because I couldn’t have rented one for the night for the price I paid anyway. I am happy to report that I had NO problem with it at all. I made sure it was level by using the attached level. That was easy! I heated it for about 20 minutes. While it was heating, I melted the chocolate chips in zip lock bags mixed with a little oil. I did not use that expensive “fondue” chocolate. I just used good old fashioned chocolate chips. I then poured the melted chocolate into the bottom of the fountain. It was melted just fine, but seemed a little thick, so I put some more oil in it. I stirred it and turned the knob and it flowed beautifully. I mean, every now and then it would “curtain” or open a little on the bottom layer, but to me that was not a big deal. I think I started out with 5 bags of melted chips, and later I added 2 more because I didn’t want the chocolate level to get too low. Some other people wrote that it was loud, but I didn’t think so. If you were in a totally quiet room, then yes, you could probably hear it running. But, it was not distracting at all…sort of like a fan running. My fountain ran for at least 4 hours, and there were about 60 people at the party, and we didn’t have one single issue with it. I used marshmallows, pretzel rods, strawberries, and rice crispie treats with mine. It was a HUGE hit with the 16 year old girls….they went on and on about how much they liked it!! Several of the boys tried it out too, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. One hint – even with napkins and plates and long skewers, the chocolate will drip on the table. So, you probably don’t want a white table cloth. What I did was use a dark blue table cloth (plastic!) and then I layed a few dark blue paper napkins around the base of the fountain. Every now and then I’d just throw them away and put some fresh ones down. That was just because I wanted it to look clean all night, and was just my own preference. But, you can expect drips. When it was time to clean up, I just dumped the left over chocolate into a garbage bag. I then took the middle pieces out and rinsed them off and put them into the dishwasher. I used a wet dish towel to wipe out the bottom. It just wasn’t the horrible experience I had read about. Well worth the money I spent.
