Decent productWhile it’s a decent product for the price, the washers that are provided are poor quality. They are made of poor quality metal and bend under the pressure that grinding anything places on them. Once they bend, you will be trying to either hold it together while grinding, or unable to continue grinding.

there’s been no waste and they’ve been getting everything they need to be …I bought this grain mill to grind up chicken feed. I was having issues with my chickens eating the ‘good’ food I mixed for them, but leaving the alfalfa and peas. Now that I’ve been grinding up their food, there’s been no waste and they’ve been getting everything they need to be happy and healthy.I did find this a bit of a hassle to set up. The directions were clear, which was nice, but some of the knobs that went into holes to be screwed in didn’t fit right. The hole would be a circle, but the knob to go into the whole was more triangular shape. It was disappointing to run into this problem when the mill was built heavy duty. When I was young I used a plastic grain mill and it didn’t hold up very well, being made of plastic. Now that this mill is put together, I’m confident that the handle won’t be breaking into two since it’s made of thick metal. My only other complaint with the mill is that the 2 screws on either side that holds the guard on keep loosening as I’m grinding up the feed and I have to keep tightening it every 5 minutes or so. Besides that, this mill has been a chicken life-saver and I found it to be well worth the money we paid for it.

Great for grinding chocolate! After reading many reviews for many mills, I settled on this product. As someone who never used a mill before and didn’t want to ruin the cacao (chocolate) seeds I had to grind, I was a bit concerned. I started with coffee beans and in less than five minutes produced a fine coffee powder. A few reviewers had explained that you have to start with a loose grind and tighten the nut a bit more everytime you pass your grains through the mill. This proved to be valuable guidance. Very few metal shavings appeared after the first run, but there were none the second time around and while grinding my chocolate. I like that it comes with the rubber pad to prevent any damage to my wood table. I attached a couple of photos, the first (close up in metal bowl) is of the coffee and the second (in glass bowl) is of the chocolate. The price was right and it came partially assembled so you feel like you only have to put it together, not build it from scratch. There was no oil or funny smells on the mill. It also came with a useful diagram and instructions that are perfect for first timers like myself. The hopper is huge and held all of my cacao seeds which yielded a quart of cocoa powder. The price was right. You may want to have a little basting brush handy to dust of any fine particals that will blow into the crevices of the device. My 1.5 quart Pyrex bowl fit perfectly underneath the mill. Do not hesitate to buy this if looking for a mill that will get the job done right without breaking the bank.

Awesome product! This grain mill is easy to use and it has a large hopper. It clamps to the table and is secure while cranking. I would suggest for small projects.

Rough design leads to some issuesThe hopper is big enough that it blocks the handle from rotating smoothly, leading to a point of consistent conflict between the two. I’d got this for grinding acorns into acorn flour, and while it did the job in terms of breaking the acorns down, it became a game of how much metal I was willing to get into my flour from grinding at the tighter settings VS how large of chunks I was willing to keep in the flour / meal. It’s a mechanical hand tool, I can accept that, but the hopper issue made the required repeated grinding more of a pain than I’d like.Pros – Easy to assemble and disassemble, easy to clean, clamp mount has a wide range and holds securely. Grinds through a hopper’s worth of material pretty quickly by hand.Cons – Hopper is too big and blocks the handle a bit, the grinding plates end up letting some bigger chunks through leading to multiple grinds of the same material, trying to grind fine flour tends to get some ground metal bits from the grinding plates touching.

Great for NixtamalOverall this product does what it’s meant to do . Grind down grains . I use mine to grind my corn for Masa and it does a really good job. I pass it through the grinder twice. 1st a coarse grind then 2nd is finer grind. End result is a nice ready to use Masa but I like to pass it through a metate as well.

Grey color on foodRead-Read-We got this to grind corn, for tamales.Run white rice and 3-4 cups of it, until grey gets lighter.Fair warning! Grey color on food goes away once you start grinding, your 1st actual should be test run.Honestly the grey color on corn went away and device was great! It washed easily and I rinsed with super hot water so dry faster. Didn’t want it to rust up.Honestly many hand grinding devices require running rice through few times from research I did, especially common in hand cranking devices.Hopefully this helps, it’s certainly not meant to scare ya off, because it works great once you get it right. We used the grinder for 96 ears corn and it was easy once we up going.Good luck and enjoy: )
