This Bubba is My BuddyI am a heavy coffee drinker, but I don’t like paying inflated coffee shop prices or being forced to brew one cup at a time in the office coffee maker. Instead, I prefer to make a pot at home, put in in a big mug, and drink it at leisure throughout the day. Several years ago, I bought a Bubba mug from a local store and was quite pleased with it until about a month ago, when one of the little tabs on the cap snapped off. But when I tried to buy a replacement, I found that the local brick-and-mortar stores no longer carried the right size Bubba Mug. Fortunately, Amazon came to the rescue, and I’m again a happy coffee drinker.First, a word of caution about the names that Bubba Brands uses for its mugs. Some customers have gotten confused and ordered the wrong mug, resulting in poor reviews. Bubba makes two similar mugs, the Desk Mug and the Travel Mug. The large size Desk Mug is shaped like a barrel and will not fit in a car’s drink holder. The large Travel Mug (which I purchased), on the other hand, has a narrower bottom and easily fits in a drink holder. The Travel Mug comes in two sizes, 20 oz and 34 oz. I bought the 34 oz, and I brew six cups of coffee every morning, which fills the 34 oz mug just about to the top. The mug itself is about 8.5” tall, 4” in diameter at the top, and 2.5” at the bottom. The lid adds about 5/8” to the height at its tallest point, the spout. The Bubba Travel Mug is black plastic with a 2.75” stainless steel band around it, where the company logo appears. The handle is also plastic and quite sturdy, about 1.25” in diameter at the widest point, the grip. The lid has a gray plastic cap that’s easy to open in case you want to drink from the mug with the lid on. The opening is about 7/8” wide, so you can easily take a healthy swallow. The opening should be able to accommodate more flexible straws, although I’ve never used a straw. As an added bonus, on the bottom of the handle is a bottle opener. Both the lid and the cap on the lid are easy to secure or remove (you can hear an audible whoosh when you attach the lid), and, if they are firmly in place, it will not spill (I never had a spill with my old mug the entire time I had it), even if the mug gets knocked over. I have also dropped an empty mug on a hard floor from table height without damage. Although the base of the mug is narrower than the top, the design isn’t overly top heavy when filled. As a result, the mug won’t topple out of the drink holder in normal driving conditions or get knocked over on a table or desk unless you hit it fairly solidly. The Bubba Travel Mug should easily hold up to the wear and tear in an average office environment.I’ve also been impressed with the mug’s insulation. I have never used it for cold or iced drinks, so I don’t know about the cooling capacity, but my coffee stays warm for four hours or more, depending on how often I open and close the cap. According to the specs, the Bubba Mug has foam insulation, although I obviously haven’t sliced it open to look. I do know that it keeps my coffee warm considerably longer than do the large cups I get at coffee shops and convenience stores on the rare occasions when I’ve purchased coffee there.I am now two for two with Bubba mugs. I can carry up to six cups of coffee at one time, and it is hot when I arrive at the office and fairly warm at lunchtime. Plus, I’ve never had a spill or leak, quite important for someone who has a desk that often has business papers strewn about that I would not care to decorate with coffee stains. As long as people double check to be sure of the size and style they are ordering, they won’t go wrong with a Bubba Travel Mug. This Bubba is one good buddy.

This was a gift for my adult handicapped son who lives with me and who works part time….My son was complaining that the airconditioning in his ancient ‘beater’ car stopped working and as you may know this is the hottest year we have had for a long time. I bought this so that he could put ice in it and work, sometimes he is kept beyond the 6hrs he is supposed to work. Well it kept the ice cold. Now he uses it for coffee (to keep it warm). He says he likes it. Oh and his ac is working now…. It does the job, it was at a reasonable price, considering that THERMOS cost around twice as much! I have a THERMOS cup and it no longer keeps ice cold like it used to. So I recommend this one for those who are thinking of buying a insulated cup….
