Works greatMy kindergartner claims this thermos is magic, haha. We have all been impressed with how well it keeps food warm for his lunch. We fill it with hot water for a few minutes before putting in the food. He’s taken tortellini, soup, and even some chicken nuggets in this and claims it’s always warm. He has about 3.5 hours between when we pack it for school and when he eats lunch.

Great container for sending warm soup for lunch to our children. This thermos container works great to keep soup warm all day for my kids to enjoy during school lunch. We have had no problems with cleaning and my kids are able to open it without problems. This is the second time we have ordered this product. If we need another in this serving size, I would definitely order another one.I’m rating this five out of five stars.

Hot things hot, cold things cold- just like it should be.I was so excited when my fourth (out of five) child started kindergarten this year. I could not wait for her to experience lunch time, and the opportunity to eat in a cafeteria with her friends. She has always been such a good eater, that I thought she would happily buy lunch every day. I. was. Wrong. After her first day of school she declared that she would no longer be purchasing lunch, and she was going to be packing from here on out.And just as suddenly- my easy going, never picky, eater, became my biggest challenge. For the first 3 months, she would only eat pb&j or ham and bread. And I was really starting to worry about her diet. Finally, over winter break, she began showing interest in hot lunches once again. So we took advantage of this and purchased an insulated container to pack lunches in.Our first purchase was not a thermos brand product, and we quickly discovered that you get what you pay for- and it wasn’t good. This is why we love Thermos:- It stays hot. We warm it up by pouring hot water in it, while we heat her soup or something from that famous happy kids “chef”.- It doesn’t leak. There is nothing worse than your 6 year old telling you that you ruined her day with dry soup and wet backpack.- Dishwasher safe! This is such a big deal, you just don’t know it yet. Other brands do NOT hold up to the dishwasher, and the result is ^^ wet backpack.- Hot inside does not mean hot outside. I can pack hot and cold items in her lunch bag and hot stays hot, cool stays cool.- Clean designs are gender neutral- hopefully this means no more fighting ( but not likely).I purchased this item outright. Like you, I rely on reviews to guide me when shopping online, so I hope that I have helped you make an educated decision.

Works wellThis is a great thermos for keeping soups warm for lunches. It holds just over a cup of soup hot for at least 4 hours. I use it for my kids’ lunches. Like most thermos-type containers, it works best if you heat it up first. I always fill it with hot water in the morning (since I make tea everyday, anyway) and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. The water is still steaming when I pour it out to fill it with soup. The soup is usually very hot when it goes into the thermos and stays warm until my kids eat it. The only thing I don’t like is that it is a bit difficult to get the soup out with a spoon since the thermos is mostly vertical. For my young kids, I give them a bowl to pour the soup into so that it’s easier to eat. There is no bowl-top on this, just a thermos. However, it does keep the contents hot. I even put chicken and rice one time and it worked really well. It’s also nice and small so it fits into most reusable lunch bags fairly easily. Overall, I’m pretty happy with it.

For better or worse they don’t make insulated containers the way …For better or worse they don’t make insulated containers the way they use to. I really enjoy the appearance of the container and that there is rubber gripping on both ends. Stainless steel is more attractive than many others I have seen. The lid seals tight and the weight is pretty light. A run through the dishwasher seems to be alright too.It can go in the dishwasher top shelf to clean.I have found that in order to keep a warmer temperature for foods, the container needs to be well heated first. Usually hot water sitting for few minutes then dumping and placing hot foods in can do the trick, like many others have mentioned. My son has recently become a soup fan, of course we live in Phoenix and don’t rely on soup to keep us warm, lol.I chose this based on its smaller size and its appearance. I had wanted something that he could use a spoon to get the soup out. He ends up drinking near the bottom. I guess maybe I was kind of wishing the lid could have had a lid that you could drink or eat from.I do really enjoy it and my son is enjoying his soups in a whole new way.

Great option for school lunches!I saw this jar when visiting my daughter’s kindergarten lunch and looked it up right away – it solved the cold lunch issue! There are steps involved, so rather than packing her lunch box the night before and putting in the fridge, i now pour hot tap water into the container while reheating her food so it’s piping hot, then dump the water down and put the food in. This happens around 7:15am each morning, and they don’t eat lunch till 1:30 – she says lunch has been a lot more enjoyable as it is comfortably warm by that time. The container holds the perfect portion of pasta, or any other type of warm food for a young child. We usually pack some fruit on the side for dessert and she is well fed. One minor challenge with the container has been that it can be tough for her (she is 5.5) to open it – but adults in the lunch room have gotten used to being asked for help with those. I do wash it immediately after she comes home by hand and hand dry (including around the plastic ring on top, so we haven’t had issues with dirt or mold – but we’ve also only had it for just over a week. Will update if we run into those.

Perfect for hot daycare lunches (when pre-heated with boiling water)Love this thermos to send to daycare for hot lunches. We have used a Thermos brand container for my 3-year-old for the past years for daycare and have been very happy with it, so we ordered this one for our youngest who is starting daycare now. The opening is big enough that our child can eat right out of the container and the lid seals tightly (never had any issues with spills). Our thermos routine is:- boil water and add to thermos, close lid- let sit until we are ready to pack up for daycare (30-45 minutes)- dump out water- add hot foodThe food is still warm for lunch time, which is about 5 hours after we add it to the thermos (initially we just asked the daycare teachers to confirm the food is still warm for lunch and now our 3-year-old tells us herself that it is). This time frame works perfectly for us, since it ensures the food is the right temperature — not too hot and safe for little ones to eat, but still warm. Cleaning is pretty easy — we use a very slim bottle brush to get in the tight areas of the lid and take out the rubber seal to clean it and wash inside the lid.

The cure for boring lunch box lunchesI can’t believe I spent a four years packing lunches without these!! I have a kindergartener, a second grader and a fifth grader, none of whom like their school’s hot lunch with the exception of pizza day Fridays. These little thermos bowls have been a game-changer! I pack mac and cheese, pasta and marinara, paella, lentils and rice, beef and barley stew, even left-over chicken pot pie once. Their favorite is what I call loaded mashed potatoes with mashed potatoes and shredded cheese in the thermos and sides of bacon bits and sour cream. It’s so nice to have an alternative to our usual sandwiches or hummus and pita chips. And the size seems great for kids – throw in a milk box and a piece of fruit or some veggies and my children tell me they have plenty for lunch. I do recommend packing these right before leaving for school and I often zap whatever I am sending in the microwave for a minute so that it is extra hot. My youngest eats at 11:10 and describes his food as “hot,” my oldest doesn’t have lunch until 1 pm and she says her food stays “warm.”,

Fix the rubber ring gasket size and it will workI really, really, REALLY wanted to love this, as my daughter is in first grade and I wanted to make hot meals a possibility. The thermos itself was very nicely constructed and the materials seemed durable and of quality. The inside is easy to clean and could hold enough food for my daughter to be satisfied at lunch. The problem? The rubber ring gasket that seals the thermos is constructed too large, therfore when you screw the lid on, the extra friction causes the rubber seal to bubble and not seal the liquid inside, resulting in leaks. The first one I ordered was hand washed per instructions and just sat in my cupboard until it was cold enough to send some hot foods with my daughter. So, I tried hot dogs. I boiled water, left it in the thermos for 5 minutes, dumped it out, felt the thermos was still hot, and then put in hot dogs and fresh boiled water. I screwed the lid on, then went to put the thermos in the bag and it slightly tipped causing boiling hot water to go all over my hand- ouch! I tired dumping more water out and unscrewing and screwing the lid several times with the same result (yes, leaking water each time). The lid kept going lopsided every time and even my hubby tried it with the same results. I tried unscrewing and reverse then forward screwing the lid and no matter what the gasket kept bubbling up on itself. I even tried using a drop of oil to lubricate around the ring. Without the gasket the lid would screw securely, but then lack waterproofing and let all the heat out of the thermos, thus defeating it’s purpose. Even if it werent meant for fluid liquids, all my heat would be gone in minutes, not hours.I contacted the seller and they sent me a second one. When I received it I skipped straight to testing it with tap water and had the same issue with the rubber gasket ring and it leaked tons of water everywhere. Both are in the mail to be returned. If the seller could make the gasket just a smidgen tighter there would most likely not be issues. This has made me consider that all thermos’ with screw on lids may have the same issue to some extent, so I will be searching for snap top ones, especially since this is for a child.
