This Gates Hi-Power II belt is a multipurpose power transmission V-belt for widespread applications. It is made of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber for resistance to weathering, oils, water, and some solvents. Its cords are bonded to the body are strongly bonded to the body of the belt for equal load distribution and reducing bending stress without deterioration of the cord. Its concave sidewalls provide cord support and full contact with the sheave groove for equal loading and uniform wear. Hi-Power II belts are part of Gates’ V80 matching system, which guarantees that all belts of the same type and size will be more precisely matched than the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) and International Standards Organization (ISO) standards require. The result is even load distribution on multi-belt drives and better wear. This V-belt meets RMA oil and heat resistance standards and static conductivity requirements and is suitable for use in all industrial applications, including V-flat drives.
V-belts, also called fan belts in automotive applications, link two or more rotating shafts to transmit power in a drive system. The trapezoidal shape of the belt’s cross section wedges into the groove of a similarly shaped sheave or pulley to provide traction and alignment. This wedging action increases as the load increases, providing higher torque transmission and minimal slippage. V-belts are standard for belt-driven power transmission and can be used in single- or multi-belt systems for increased carrying power. They are found in drive systems in the automotive, agricultural, textile, printing, mining, and office equipment industries, among others.
Gates manufactures power transmission and fluid transfer components and systems. The company, founded in 1917, is headquartered in Denver, CO.

Item as described and cheaper than others. Highly recommend!

It’s a belt, it fits and works. Seems to hold up well with use and the 4,000 belt changes I have to do on my mill. It’s a cheap milling machine – not the belts fault. If I had the money, it would be a variable speed mill. But for now, it’s lots of belt changes. Set up measurements with a coaxial test indicator at one speed, then each bit size has a correct speed. Not to mention different materials. Not that I am complaining here, it’s more of a serious hobby than a production tool. Perhaps someday I will get the shop space and buy a knee mill with a variable speed drive. Then this one will be for sale. Could be years though. If it needs a new belt, I will buy another one of these for sure. I mean, what can you possibly say about a belt? It didn’t stink… Doesn’t squeal when properly adjusted. No, I am not affiliated with Gates at all. Well, my Uncle did drive a truck for them. Big rig. 18 wheeler. He used to joke about all them “hose” in the trailer. I could belt him.

It was exactly what my husband was looking for. He’s been having trouble with local dealers giving him number matches of their product and then the belt doesn’t fil. This one was just right.

THIS IS NOT A B41 BELT. The B41 is 44 inches in length. I took a photo of the old B41 belt from my mower and the counterfeit product. Note the difference in length.
