We Have Only Tried It Out Twice And In Both Speed Modes It Is Nimble Flyer, Sensitive On Joysticks No Obstacle Avoidance Sensors When Flying It. .Downloaded Ophelia Fly App, Connected To Mobile Phone(Used Mobile Data Off) Paired The Drone / Controller Once, Opened App Put Joysticks Down To The Bottom Left Did Gyro Calibration, Put Joysticks Down To The Bottom Right Did Compass Calibration On EACH NEW FLIGHT, Also You Can Do (Gimbal Calibration) In The App. We Wanted To Test It When Flying It To Check That The Return To Home Function Using GPS Was Reliable And Safe. As a total beginner, I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a drone and find I didn’t use it enough or found it too difficult to use/fly. Years ago, I had one of those helicopters that were all the rage and I could never get the thing to fly right – it sits in a cupboard now. Read lots of reviews and decided this Holystone was the best compromise of cost and ability. A Black Friday deal made it easier and its looking promising. The drone comes in an amazing quality case, feels like whale skin or something exotic :-). First setup was easy once I got the right app – there are several versions of the Ophelia app and this 720G needs the Ophelia Fly (not Ophelia Go). First flight was in my kitchen, just using the one-touch take-off option and was very impressive; just hovered perfectly, very cool. Landed perfectly as well. I’ve only been for one outdoor flight so far and it was awesome; so easy to fly – it just stays in one position if you don’t touch the sticks unlike normal RC planes which need continual input to keep flying. This thing will just sit there until the battery runs out, so easy.
I was worried about the range it could be controlled but I really don’t think this will be a problem – I went up 5m (left the drone in beginner mode) and the view on the camera was lovely and I can legally go up to 120m! Not tested horizontal range but the specs say 500m which might not sound much but I’ve seen a video of a guy going about 150m and it looked very far with no loss of signal – I think it will be a while before the range will be an issue for me.
So I would definitely recommend this for a beginner as it is so easy to use and great value.

Got this for my Dad as a birthday gift, not being sure if he’d like it, or think it was too complicated to set up/ use. But, he loves it!
He spent days being excited by reading the manual and watching videos on how to fly it etc. before he tried his own one. However, he was so excited he decided to fly it even without the app connection (not recommended, ha). He still had great fun and it made him very eager to set up the app on his phone.
I’ve never had a drone myself either, so I was a bit daunted by setting it up and wondered how complex it’d be, but I have to say, it was very clear and straightforward! My Dad has a Samsung J3 2016/17 and it wouldn’t pick up the WiFi from the drone -but that seems to be his phone, not the drone, as a Samsung s8, apple iPad and Google pixel 3a picked it up no problem.
Even with this, my Dad loves the drone so much, he’s going to get a new phone to fly it! Ha.
He loves the drone and we are so impressed by the packaging, remote and drone itself! The camera clarity is great and as beginners, we are very impressed! We’d a slight crash but that was my fault, yet the drone is fine and well built, no damage.
Overall, I’m so happy with the purchase for my Dad. Granted, we’ve not used it lots yet, so I can’t comment on long-term functionality but our first impressions are that it’s a great drone and happy to recommend 🙂

The HS720G is supplied in a very smart case, very impressive. The case contains the drone, battery, battery charging cable, spare props, and the controller. As the drone is of the folding arm type the case is much smaller that that for the HS120D for example. Certainly easy enough and light enough to carry around.
The kit is supplied with one battery, I haven’t been able to track down a spare as one is not really enough if you have travelled some distance to fly. Though Holystone do have a system to enable one to get another.
The controller, which has an information window set in it, requires 2 AA batteries, which was a surprise as all the other Holystone drones I have have usb charging. Some folk may find this a better system, easy enough to carry some spare batts. whereas a recharge takes time.
In information window supplies all the info required to fly the drone so a smartphone is not really needed. Though without one you won’t be able to see what the drone is flying over and/or recording.
The drone flies very well, even in moderate wind it is pretty stable and the gimbal really does make a difference when filming. I’ve seem my drone at a 10 or 15 degree bank but the horizon was still level. The drone takes upto a 128gig micro sd card.
One battery is stated to give 26 mins flying and I wouldn’t argue with that, I always head mine for home with plenty left. It records in MPG4 so just about any computer OS shouldn’t have any trouble reading the files.
Overall, a very impressive reasonably priced drone that has quite a few bells and whistles in the app. The app you want is Opheila FLY and you do have to set up an account.
The one small negative for me is the phone holder on the controller. It’s safe but I twitch each time I use it as you have to use a fair bit of force to bring it fully into position. Having said that the whole system seems very well made, it’s just me I guess 🙂
UPDATE : I tried to take advantage of the HolyStone spare battery offer and was told that they were unable to ship them to the UK as we were no longer part of the EU. Have been unable to find a 2nd battery so far, In consequence one battery limits the practicality of using the drone for anything semi serious as even with a fast charger you are likely to be sitting around for some time waiting for the battery to recharge.
UPDATE : Drone lost! Thought I would check out the camera in low light compared to other drones I have. After carrying out full pre flight started engines press auto take off, Drone shot up into the air some 20 or 30 metres and took off at a terrific rate of knots for I know not where. Press RTH, control said ‘Returning’ for about a min then message switched to ‘Lost Connection’ and that was that, it has not come back.
However, Holy Stone’s customer Care is second to none. Very easy to contact, very responsive and happy to take ownership. I relayed the above problem to them simply to make them aware of the RTH issue. A new drone is on it’s way to me, totally unexpected. So very impressed and this makes a real difference as to which next drone to buy in my book.

I bought this drone after watching many reviews on YouTube, I’m not disappointed. The quality of video footage is superb and the drone itself is easy to operate, but it does need practice and a big field! I’m going to enjoy this 😃..
The above was the review I left a couple of days after taking delivery of the drone in order to get a free battery (see below) so I had a compelling reason to leave one..an honest one I might add. After owning and playing with the said drone for just over a week, coupled with the free battery offer, I felt I had to expand on my review. I might add I rarely leave comments or feedback on this or any other site as everyone and their uncle want feedback nowadays, I don’t have the time.

I have very recently bought my first drone, Holy Stone HS720G…….What an amazing machine!
I was torn between the HS720E with 2 two batteries or the HS720G with only 1 battery, the G won due to the many positive reviews on YouTube, I figured I could buy another battery at a later date.
I took delivery a couple of days after ordering from Amazon, the drone was despatched direct from Holy Stone UK.
From the moment I opened the Amazon box, it was a pure unadulterated pleasure opening the Holy Stone package.
The drone case is quality and offers excellent protection to the contents (in my opinion). The drone itself is a beauty, I haven’t named her yet, but I will 😊. The build quality is excellent, the body feels solid and had a good weight to it. The rotor arms are positive to move, everything feels good. The remote pad also had a good weight to it, a couple of handles pull from the bottom of the unit, a couple of antennae pull up and twist at the top as well as a phone holder to view whilst flying the drone. Everything is quality!
I downloaded the Ophelia Fly app and I was ready to play. (I’M 62 btw and still like to play, we’re all kids at heart). I confess I did crash her a couple of times and cringed, but no damage at all, phew! I can’t stress enough to give yourself plenty of space to practice, especially when the drone is flying towards you, left and right are reversed, so to speak.
I noticed when I first connected the Ophelia Fly to my phone, that there was a brief message displayed offering a free battery. I thought I’d go through the motions and end up disappointed, I was so very wrong.
All I had to do was email Holy Stone and they emailed back requesting I leave a review on the drone, fair enough.
A couple of days after leaving the brief review above,I received the battery (on a Sunday via Amazon). I have to say I was over the moon, it was free, and is charging as I write this.
In summary, I can’t praise Holy Stone UK enough for the amazing product, delivery and after sale service.

Ich suchte eine Drohne für mich, die etwas höherwertig ist aber trotzdem bei einem Totalverlust verschmerzbar wäre, da ich als vollkommener Neuling mit diversen Problemen rechnete.
Nach einigen Tagen Suche habe ich mich letztendlich für die Holystone HS720G entschieden, die mit ca. 300 Euro in mein Budget passte.
Ich habe mir gleichzeitig einen 2. Akku bestellt um die versprochenen 30 Minuten Flugzeit etwas zu erweitern.

Im Set der Drohne sind zwar Ersatzpropeller enthalten, aber ich wollte sicher gehen und habe mir einen Satz Ersatzpropeller ebenfalls gekauft, was im Endeffekt gut so war.

Desweiteren finde ich es schade, dass keinerlei Propellerschutz mitgeliefert wird obwohl die HS720G als Einsteigerdrohne beworben wird. Und Anfängern passieren nunmal leichter Fehler als geübten Piloten.
Deswegen habe ich mich gefragt ob es vielleicht auf dem Zubehörmarkt etwas geeignetes gibt und bin direkt fündig geworden.

dieses Set beinhaltet 4 Rotorschutzrahmen zum Anklipsen sowie ein Landegestell. Das Set ist allerdings für die HS720/720E konzipiert und somit passt das Landegestell leider nicht an die 720G, die Propellerschutzrahmen allerdings sehr wohl, weshalb ich empfehle, sich das auf jeden Fall mit zu kaufen.
Ich habe inzwischen insgesamt 5 Flüge gemacht die teilweise unerfreulich aber teilweise auch erfolgreich verlaufen sind.
beim 1. Flugversuch konnte ich 30 Minuten fliegen und die Steuerung etwas kennen lernen was sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat. Nachdem der Akku zur Neige ging habe einen Neuen eingelegt und die Drohne wieder in Luft geschickt.
Das ganze hatte ich im Normalmodus (langsame Geschwindigkeit) gemacht. Ich wollte dann auch den Unterschied von Normal zu Sport sehen und habe den Schalter für die Geschwindigkeitsumstellung gedrückt. Das war leider ein Riesenfehler, da die Drohne anstatt die Geschwindigkeit umzuschalten die Motoren wie bei einem Notstop abgeschaltet hat, was zum Absturz aus ca. 4m Höhe auf Betonboden führte.
Allerdings nahm die HS720G selbst keinen Schaden sondern lediglich einer der nachgerüsteten Propellerschutzbügel ist gebrochen.
Leider steht diese wichtige Information nicht im Handbuch.
Aber für mich wichtig war, dass sie den Absturz überlebt hat.
Inzwischen habe ich noch ein paar weitere Übungsflüge gemacht die im großen und ganzen ebenfalls erfolgreich waren, bzw. die Schwierigkeiten, die dabei auftraten nicht zwingend der Drohne zugeordnet werden können.
Z.B. ,machte ich einen Versuch auf einer Anhöhe ausserhalb bei etwas windigem Wetter. Hier driftete die Drohne ab und sie regierte nicht mehr auf Dreh- oder Richtungsbefehle der Fernbedienung. Eine Landung hat allerdings funktioniert, wodurch ich nicht sicher bin, ob es Probleme bei der Verbindung gab, wie im Netz teilweise bemängelt wird, oder ob es an den Windverhältnissen gelegen hat. Ich vermute dass die windverhältnisse doch zu stark für die HS720G waren, obwohl gefühlt nicht wirklich starker Wind wehte, aber in ein paar Metern Höhe sieht das ja immer etwas anders aus.

– der Hinweis, dass die Umschaltung von Normalgeschwindigkeit auf Sport nur am Boden gemacht werden darf, fehlt.

mein Fazit: Trotz diverser Probleme und damit einhergehende (beinah)Crashs würde ich die HolyStone HS720G wieder kaufen. Vieles habe ich bisher noch nicht ausprobiert und werde das bei Gelegenheit nachholen, wie den Verfolgungsmodus beispielsweise.
Wer sich neu mit Drohnen beschäftigen will, der ist mit der HS720G gut bedient und hat ein Gerät, das nicht ausschließlich für Innenräume geeignet ist.

Zuerst das Wichtigste. Für die Drohne benötigst du den kleinen Drohnenführerschein da sie mit 380g über die 250g Regel fällt. Also erst mit den Gesetzen vertraut machen, dann Drohne kaufen. Ich bin auch ein absoluter Neuling was das Drohne fliegen betrifft, daher wollte ich auch nicht viel Geld für eine Kameradrohne ausgeben und ich muss sagen die Holy Stone 720G hält was sie verspricht. Sie hat einige Funktionen wie Follow me, Kreisflug und Waypoints die es sonst nur bei teureren Drohnen gibt. Die Ophelia Fly App ist sehr übersichtlich, gut verständlich und einfach zu bedienen. Es gibt 2 Flugmodi “Low” und “High” und ein Modus für Anfänger der aber nicht so empfehlenswert ist, da der Umkreis nur 15m ist und die Höhe max 25m. Die Höhe ist ok, aber bei den 15m kann man noch nicht einmal im Kreis fliegen, da der Kreisflug manuell im Low Modus sehr groß ist. Im High Modus ist die Drohne wendiger und fliegt einen kleineren Radius. Allerdings fliegt sie auch ein wenig schneller. Wenn man an die Grenze von 15m kommt bleibt die Drohne stehen und man muss erst ein 1m zurück fliegen, damit man sie wieder drehen kann. Das ist nicht gut gelöst. Daher sollte man lieber im LOW Modus üben und nicht im Anfänger Modus. Die Drohe selbst finde ich optisch und von der Verarbeitung sehr gut, der Kontroller hat ein eigenes Display um die Telemetriedaten anzuzeigen, was mir sehr gut gefällt. Du kannst die Kamera mit Hilfe eines Rädchens am Kontroller nach oben und unten verstellen. Auch die Return to Home funktioniert einwandfrei. Entweder manuell, bei Signalabbruch oder bei schwachem Akku leitet sie selbständig den Rückflug ein und landet mit einer kleinen Abweichung (ca.1-1,5m) vom Startpunkt. Die 23 Minuten Flugzeit waren für mich ausreichend. Der 2-Achsen Gimbal funktioniert gut in der horizontal und vertikal Bewegung. Das Bild ist flüssig. Aber jetzt kommen wir zum Knackpunkt, in der Rotationsbewegung sind die Bilder sehr wackelig und das kann leider die elektronische Bildstabilisierung nicht ausgleichen. Ich habe mal ein Beispielvideo angefügt. Wenn es einen nicht stört, nur fliegen und ab und an mal Videos in der Vorwärtsbewegung machen möchte, dem kann ich die Drohne empfehlen. Solltet ihr aber so wie ich eine Drohne kaufen der schöne Panoramavideos machen will, dann solltet ihr besser auf ein teureres Model mit 3-Achsen Gimbal umsteigen. Das ist auch der Grund warum ich die Drohne zurück gegeben habe. 2 kleine Nachteile gibt es noch. Die Handyhalterung stößt bei meinem IPhone13 an ihre Grenzen. Eine IPhone Max Version wird nicht mehr passen und die Ladezeit des Akku von ca. 4-5 Stunden ist sehr lang. Aber da ich eh nur 1x am Tag fliege war mir die Ladezeit egal. Bei den Waypoints weiß ich nicht ob es ein Bedienfehler von mir war oder ob die Karte keine Objekte und Entfernungen anzeigt. Zumindest hatte ich beim setzten der Waypoints nur eine beige Fläche. Aber die Drohne ist die eigenständig den Weg abgeflogen. Fazit: Wenn das Bild in der Rotation flüssig gewesen wäre, hätte ich die Drohne behalten. Denn für den Preis mit den Funktionen ist sie unschlagbar.
