OK, so some of the earlier reviews will say it doesn’t taste like they thought it would. That’s to be expected, y’all. Every brand will have its own unique taste.Does this still taste like Li Hing Mui? Yes.Is it the best, most authentic tasting brand? Not exactly, but it does the trick. This particular formulation from Enjoy has the sweet, sour, tangy flavor profile you’re looking for. My only criticism is that it does have a noticeable aspartame taste, especially the after taste.

I got a darker powder than the red one I ordered. I like both, but to me and my family the red is better. Made a statement to the sender and never heard anything back.

I remember using this on white rice as a child and loving it. It’s awful.. It doesn’t taste like li hing mui at all, it taste like playdough. Furthermore I think it contains ground up seeds.. There are really hard little flecks in it that make it very gritty. It’s possible you could make a sauce with this if you filter it, it taste alright on fruit.. But not what I remember it being as a child.

I was introduced to this powder on Oahu, at the weekend swap meet overlooking The Arizona. It’s great. Sweetens sharp pineapple taste without adding sugar. Fruit or juice. I keep it in a shaker jar and use as needed.

In Hawaii this powder is used for flavoring many snack foods. Great on dried fruit. Used mine on dried cranberries and popcorn. So happy to be able to order it whenever I run out.

One ‘flavor’ is a bit salty and has salt listed as the second ingredient and sugar is third. The other ‘flavor’ is a bit ‘sweet’ and has sugar listed as the second ingredient with salt as the third. We like the ‘sweet’ flavored powder. Core n slice a nice apple and s.p.a.r.i..n.g.l.y sprinkle the Li Hing Mui powder over. Prevents apple slices from browning and gives apples and extra special zip.Decide if you are a sweet or salty person and check the ingredient list.3 stars – nothing wrong with the product, we were just looking for the sweet.

I tasted a different brand of this product, so I decided to order it. Since I did not see the brand I tasted, I ordered this one. Big disappointment. It did not taste the same. It tasted like the fruit had gone bad then they decided to dehydrate it.

I had never heard of this product before I read about it in a recipe. I really enjoyed the unique taste and think it could become addicting. It’s primarily a plum extract flavor. The one problem I had with it had nothing to do with anything the vendor or manufacturer did. My teenaged Boxer pup (who seems to enjoy fruity products) managed to get one package of two, chew it open and spread it generously around my house, dyeing my sheets and his nose red. If you buy this, protect it. When the remaining package is used up, I will purchase again.

Sprinkle a little of this powder on dried fruits which had been hiddenbehind things and were very dry and chewy. After 2-3 days the driedfruit absorbs moisture and restores its favor. On newly purchaseddried fruits you will tastes a wonderful brightness never experiencedbelow. Try it and you will like it..
