Petzl is never in question as a product. They have been around forever. They continue to innovate and improve. I am a big fan of the TrAct lock system. I started rope skills when the “locking carabiner” was a fairly new concept and those were screw lock. Twist lock came along and was very convenient but theoretically could come unlocked under forces from a strap or whatever. The TriAct gives you the confidence of a screw lock with the convenience of twist lock.My only weird experience in buying these is probably more about Amazon’s interface. They tend to post 3 colors of the carabiner and the 3 gate systems (screw lock, TriAct lock, and ball lock). Occasionally they have non-locking. So i you do the drop-down selection of the color you want and the gate you want, the picture you see may not be what you are looking for. I ordered black carabiners with TriAct lock. The pic was black but showed screw lock.I got what I ordered. I’m fine. It was just a little weird. I did see another review where the person did not get what he was expecting, so I’m not sure what is going on there.Still, I love Petzl products. I have been trusting my life to them since 1984.

Ive used this carabiner to hold my weight plus a chainsaw. I’ve used it to swing tree branches that weighed several hundred pounds. If you leave the screw lock gate screwed down it’s quick to deploy, and once it’s set up you screw the gate lock up and you know for sure it isn’t going anywhere. Definitely a solid piece of equipment.

Maybe its just me perhaps in certain situations it would be useful but to me and for my uses the whole Triaction gate is just a pain. I have never had a situation it would have prevented and its just not what I’m used to. Its also listed as being “gray” in color, no its silver, very shiny, not particularly impressed. Otherwise it’s a nice solid light weight carabiner that I have no worries trusting.

I bought this for saddle hunting where I use Kong Duck Ascenders and I bought some other oval carabiners from Amazon that were very heavy and wouldn’t rotate all the way through. This one checked all the boxes for me, lightweight and fully functional rotating all the way through Kong Duck!!

Just great operation, the oval shape accomadates a prusik, hitch climber, and rope wrench. Also you need one for the zog zag 🙂 There might be better biners out there but this is what I learned on and love.
