About Contigo
Understand your problem
We have a fundamental belief that all of our products must solve a meaningful problem. We’re constantly searching for the problems—and potential problems—that consumers encounter every day. It starts with an insight, whether it’s from our research panel, a response on social media, or a comment from a friend; we keep our eyes and ears open. We tirelessly send out surveys, conduct focus groups, and watch how you use a product at home, in the office or even on the train (sorry if that sounds creepy). We put in a lot of time during the research phase to ensure our designers have the information needed to get to the root of the problem. Our first insight was, “I wish I had a mug that didn’t leak or spill”.

Just what I neededMy esthetician told me to ditch the straw water bottler, as I was getting fine lines and wrinkles around my mouth (AHHHHHH)… so I ordered this one and it is perfect. I like that there isn’t an internal seal that gets mold on it either.. Easy to clean, easy to carry, and doesn’t leak… get yourself one!

amazing! It is just perfect. No licking of water from the lid. It is a little bit difficult to clean the bottom of the bottle because of its size. I just bought a cleaning brush for my water bottles and that solved the problem.

Good, but I like the old version betterI purchased this set of water bottles to replace an aging set of Contigo water bottles that I totally loved but have worn out from continual use. The new bottle is on the left in the picture (rose colored). My 4 star rating is biased towards being compared with my old water bottles.I like a wide spout so that I can get my water quickly, the spout on my old bottle is 1-1/2 inches ID (inner diameter). The spout on this is 1-1/8 inches ID, so I can’t get the water as quickly. The seal on this set is very good, though the spring to open the lid isn’t strong enough to open the bottle when the air pressure inside is lower than outside, such as when going down in elevation (frequently traveling between 3,000 ft and 6,000 ft elevation) or when the liquid cools and causes a slight vacuum. On the flip side, this bottle can splatter water all over when the air pressure in the bottle is greater than outside. I like filling my water bottles with as much as possible and with the smaller opening on this product, the water pops out as the lid is opened. The cap release is not as convenient as the old model. The old model I press the release and the cap opens. This version I’m still figuring out because sometimes the cap doesn’t open until I release the trigger. Sometimes I have to use my other hand to get the cap to open. With this model, I usually have to use two hands to close the lid because the design doesn’t accommodate my hand with simple one hand closing.A feature of this new bottle, that my old one didn’t have, is the locking feature. I have a habit of dropping my water bottles and the old ones now pop the cap off and spill when dropped, which was one of the reasons for looking for a replacement. I haven’t dropped the new bottle yet, but I feel confident that the cap won’t pop off when locked. My ideal is to be able to use one hand to retrieve from the center console while driving, open the cap with one hand, get a quick drink, close the lid with the same hand and return the bottle to the center console, all without taking my eyes off the road or being distracted with getting a drink. This water bottle doesn’t meet this criteria.Note: This model, Contigo 2144909 was suggested to me by the Contigo customer service when I called asking what they have as a suitable replacement. The representative was very helpful, even though the suggest product isn’t as nice as the old one.

Frustrated by the missing Oz(s) marksWell you finally got your lid game on point but now you’ve removed all the ounces marks except the one at the top. Why oh why would you do that?! Some of us track our water consumption and this is going to make it harder. Still, I’m really glad the lid got figured out. I suggest that you never need to change it ever again.

Pretty much a perfect water bottle! These bottles are darn near perfect! They hold a good amount of water. They have a locking button. NO STUPID STRAW TO WASH, easy to drink from. My daughter loves hers! Her old water bottle leaked in her backpack. This one hasn’t (so far, so good!).

It is BPA free with code 7 water bottle! If a product is stamped with a “7,” does it mean that it contains BPA?No; nor is it a measure of the safety of a product. The number, usually located in the center of the triangular recycle symbol, is called the “resin identification code” and is intended to facilitate sorting of materials for recycling. Currently, resin identification code “7” is for “other” resins that are not defined by codes 1 through 6. Thus, a number of unrelated plastics can carry a code 7, including Tritan, polycarbonate, nylon and even the newer bio-plastics. Many well-known manufacturers identify their products made from Tritan with code 7.
