This tamper works as advertised. It’s sturdy and well-built. The fit and finish are very good.
In use, the tamper is a great fit for my La Pavoni Esperto 51mm portafilter basket. The in-built resistance is excellent for a consistent tamping pressure, resulting in repeatable shot quality. A definite thumbs up!

Awesome construction, really great tool. The only negative was the fact that the base metal plate that compresses the grounds is far too thick. For my 54mm Breville stock basket if I put more than 17g of grinds in, the leveler didn’t sit on the portafilter and basically defeated the purpose of purchasing it in the first place. If you buy a precision basket or a larger one this is probably not an issue but it really bothered me so I ended up returning it.

I use a name brand espresso machine, and while I consider myself a coffee veteran/snob, espresso was a new process for me. The challenge I was having was related to my prep work and just how it sort of hurt my wrists to get the right amount of pressure on my tamping. After I used this the first time, the results were remarkable to admire before I ran a shot through. I kept telling my buddy he has to get one, so I ended up ordering a second as a gift for him. It’s very easy to use, and the results provided you have other elements to the puck prep well managed this is a fantastic upgrade to help improve your espresso shots almost immediately.

This tamper is has a slightly larger diameter than the one that came with our machine, so I don’t get the uncompacted grounds around the edge as before. It has a hefty, well-built feel to it with no noticable sloppiness in the machining.
I have no way of verifying that the calibration of the spring is legit; seems that the final pressure applied will vary depending on how full your portafilter basket is. However, I do like knowing that as long as I dose the same amount of grounds each time, the pressure applied should be the same; removing one variable from the process.
Overall I am happy with the purchase.
