I looked at a myriad of thermometers and couldn’t decide. I finally flipped a coin and ordered a Kizen IP109.
It was everything advertised and I feel lucky my order flip came up Kizen. The icing on the cake was it came with a battery installed and unbelievably they included a back up battery. Ironically batteries is why I ordered a thermometer in the first place as I couldn’t find a replacement battery for my old thermometer. A big shout out to Kizen!!!!

Easy to Use – It comes pre calibrated and with the battery already inside. Just open up the needle test on something like a cup of water and you good to go using it on while grilling.
Perfect for the 4- 5 times you BBQ a year. Used it for a weekend getaway for 4 days and worked like a charm – Made the best beef short ribs, chicken and pork chops I have ever made on the grill – some may say its cheating to use this but the food was devoured in minutes!
Works just as described – Takes a few seconds to get to the temperature but no big deal at all.

Magnet is clutch – stick on fridge when not in use, stick on side of bbq etc

I’ve never had a digital thermometer before so I can only compare to the old dial type. This has been great. Love how quick and easy it is to use. Now I’m testing temps more often.

Battery was drained on arrival. Replaced the battery multiple times and each time I tried to use it again the battery would be flat even while kept in storage. Reached out to tech support who have been slow to respond and asking where the item was purchased even after sending them a screenshot of Amazon order. DO NOT BUY….

Can’t wait to check the thanksgiving turkey. Although it’s not discrete enough to take to mom’s meal (she’s notorious for hiding the undercooked turkey under the breast meat slabs so you don’t know she cut corners til after you’ve already eaten), I will use it on my meal to insure the health of my guests.

I now keep one with the barbecue and one in the kitchen. Easy to use. Simple “on” by opening the probe from the body. The original factory battery is still kicking after quite some time (conditional). The listed attributes appear to be accurate as some of my recipes are in centigrade, some temps I can’t read while taking so the “hold” feature is nice. It’s been a very reliable unit and durable enough. The probe is only so long, so if you have a deep barbecue grill you may wish to have your mitt on as you reach to the back to check on that steak. Pierces is most food easily. The same unit is relabeled, in different colors as well, and sold underneath other names for as much as twice this price. Others appear similar but lack some features and so are not as utilitarian.
