The best filter everI bought the filters from HeredomUS, 3 at a time to always have them handy. They were delivered within 3 days, in perfect condition, well packaged. At a reasonable price at $60.20. I am really pleased with HeredomUS!!!! Great service!! I never buy the filters from Franke direct anymore because of their $85 pricetag. But I buy the Franke brand, not some knock-off.I love this filter system and the filters, even though they are pricy. The water tasted amd smells fresh, no chemical or off taste – without the filter our water is really not drinkable. I use the filtered water for cooking vegetable, rice, noodles too. For a 2 person household the filter lasts more than 6 months. I have gone as long as 9+ months. But after that I get nervous (even though the water still tastes as fresh – but the flow is definitely slower) because If the water did contain cysts or other contamination I would not want to keep the filter too long past its recommended life. The system was installed while we remodeled the kitchen, 12 years ago, and has not failed us. It is compact and changing filters is super easy. The manufacturer recommends running the water for 10 minutes after filter change. And then not to use it for 24 hours to condition the filter to the local water. Instead I ran water through the filter without installing it first and then kept it in a tall container, covered to the top with water. After I installed it the next day I ran the water for 10 minutes into a 2 gallon container (for flowers – since we always face drought in California). I timed it and after 10 minutes I had not quite drawn 2 gallons. All in all, I can’t think of any other system I would rather use – and we have tried various ones.No cons for this product.

The good and the badFirst, the good:* Not surprisingly, it fits perfectly into the Franke filter system. I’ve got the Franke hot/cold water dispenser with this filter in-line.* Does the water taste better? Sure it does. It is noticeable, but it is not a _huge_ difference where I live. I’ll generally only notice it when I’m switching back from filtered water to unfiltered, because that’s when I can actually notice the “extra tastes” (maybe chlorine?) in the water. Now, the bad:* The filter starts out great, and the water flow is good. Within a month or so, the water flow is much lower, and soon it slows to a trickle. I assume that this is because the filter is doing its job and getting clogged up with all sorts of stuff that I’d rather not be drinking, but regardless, it ends up needing to be replaced pretty quickly, which brings me to my second point …* These things aren’t cheap.* Finally, the latest filter replacement I got is significantly different from earlier ones. First, the color is different (don’t ask me why I noticed this, but I did). Second, the “burn in” process has changed dramatically: It used to be that you’d just run it for 2 minutes, but now it say to run it for 10 minutes and then wait 24 hours and then run it for another 10 minutes before finally being able to use it. As fast as these wear out for me, I’m afraid that I’ll barely get it burned in and then I’ll have to replace it! ;-)All in all, I’m happy with the product, but I wish the cost over time were better.

Useless and impossible to installThe first filter I ordered had its plastic grooves stripped and didn’t fit and there was no water flow. The second one stopped the water flow completely and was difficult to uninstall due to the pressure that was built up. I followed the steps exactly and also saw youtube videos.

Clear tasteless water on tapThe Franke filter gives you a clear, good tasting glass of water.

It appears to be a Franke filterIt appears to be a genuine Franke filter. However the box was taped with scotch tape and the carboard was dirty.

In use for almost 20 yearsI have had this Franke for almost 20 years. (Originally the 01 filter if I recall.) I have upgraded to the metal housing, and replace every year. It also feeds my ice maker in the refrigerator. They work great, have a fine (.02 micron) filter, and the water is tasteless and odorless. They do restrict the flow, so if you are in a hurry you may hate it. I just wait. The flow is less than .5 gpm with 25lbs of water pressure.Upgrades you should do:Metal housing. All plastic ones will fail eventually.Steel wrapped hoses, and 1/4 turn metal valves. It will be fail free for years.enjoy

How to reuse your filterThe media could not be loaded.
These filters are very expensive. I have figured out how to make them last a year or longer. Watch the attached video.

value.Just installed this filter. I had a hard time getting the old one out, but once release it was easy to install. Water flow was a lot faster after installation.

I think it makes water taste betterHave used this product for over 10 years. I think it makes water taste better. We live in Chicago and have access to good, clean Lake Michigan water but I still think this adds to better taste. Filters seem to be expensive, but we replace annually since we use under 1 gallon per day so not a huge annual expense.
