This works great – just a little pricey for what it actually is! Joining two tracks together is not bad, but the set screws are very small and a little difficult at times to get started. But overall great product.

I love these tools, I just started using them but they are worth every penny

Am a new subscriber to Festool and Hartville. I must say that Hartville has met the challenge of getting product orders and shipped quickly. Im extremely happy with Hartville and their service.

Festool, the best. I just got this and have been using steadily for the past week building plywood cabinets. I have the 80″ as well but too cumbersome for short cuts, so got the shorter one for smaller pieces – along with the coupler that allows longer cuts by joining the two.Easy to use, requires a little bit of play to determine exactly where the final cut would be so you can line up properly. I also use a couple of dewalt clamps that fit in the rail track to secure it to the workpiece. Festoon seems as well but the dealt are cheaper and work very well. Be careful when taking the clamp off as the rail is light enough that if the piece is skinnier than the rail it can flip and land on the floor. The aluminum is fragile so you can end up with a slightly bent corner when it hits a hard floor.I use this rail with the Festool plunge saw, and get a straight accurate cut each time. In addition to cutting plywood I used it to cut some old, thick (approx 2 1/2″) stringers I had around. At 16′ they were hampering my floor space in the workshop. Cut easily and now I think I will use the two rails together to trim the boards so I can join them – for a desktop or even a workbench. The rails allow you to take off the slightest amount easily and accurately.

They were expensive

So it loses a star for a couple reasons:Both this and the replacement plastic edge are way overpriced and festool provides no extras with itAt this price and for such a precise item it really should come with a hard case. Festool doesn’t even make one! The crappy case they do make is just a bag.Otherwise, I love the saw and this item is somewhat essential for it. Really annoying they don’t just have a larger systainer that includes the saw and this smallest track, but alas it’s this or go with much more mediocre options (makita makes a really solid one though but the savings are super significant)

It’s well built no doubt BUT, you have to do an initial cut down the track after tightening the saw, that cuts the edge plastic that will be your line up marker for the blade every time u cut going forward. When I did this my saw actually ripped the plastic in an odd way that caused damage to this edge and thus left it imperfect, and wouldn’t scribe a perfect line if I ran a pencil down it. So lining up with my marks isn’t perfect. Acceptable but not perfect off by 1/16th down a 48.5 inch double finished piece of plywood. It would be nice if the price of the guide actually afforded them to have the guide rails ‘splinter guard plastic’ already set perfectly. Idk why but my saw created ‘knicks’ and unevenness in the cut even after I tensioned the saw to the guide rail. No instructions included, had to look up a video on how to initially cut. And I did follow instructions. Considering asking festool to make good on this product. So I could try the cut with a finer blade and not the one that comes with it.

I’ve always wanted to get into Festool but couldn’t see spending that kind of money. I purchased this saw & track for a large plywood job (130 sheets, lots of cuts) and the increase in productivity was big. Saw is easy to use and the track stays where you put it. While pricey, you get what you pay for & this won’t be my last Festool purchase.
