Easy to use, possibly plastic contaminants, can be used as a room heater lol

Compared to the Ronco dehydrator I bought not that long ago, this is the diamond in the rough, while the Ronco was just rough. This one is indeed compact, much MUCH easier to use, and doesn’t sound like a 747 taking off. I bought some of those round perforated “mats” because I dry herbs mostly and this way they don’t slip through the slots in the plastic trays. I gave it 4 stars only because it takes for-freakin’-EVER to dry my herbs. I don’t know if it’s the lesser wattage or the fan speed, but it does take a long time. However, it makes nice dry, crispy basil leaves, which is the sine qua non of almost everything I cook! If you have a small kitchen, limited counter space, and patience … I do highly recommend this one!

Nice tool but as a beginner I didn’t realize harvest-time food storage goals require a larger device. I’ve learned this is a nice tool for making lunchbox treats/snacks and munchies for weekend hikes. But for use for preserving seasonal harvests of fruits or veggies this is too small. My version has 5 trays and each tray holds about 4/5ths of a banana sliced, so that is not much when one is looking at a lot of fruit off a tree for instance. So, it is back to the drawing board for me, as they say. I need to look for a larger dehydrator for my food storage plans.

I bought this mainly to dry mushrooms I grow at home and fruits. It takes hours but does a good job. Wish it had a timer or auto shut off setting though.

I purchased this to dehydrate mushrooms that I was growing. I ended up branching out and dehydrating almost everything I could get my hands on. Perfect for fruits for snacks

Like it, nothing to complain about. Look forward to dehydrating my abundance of garden produce without filling up the freezer.

Pro: This is compact
Con: Won’t reach temp without blocking most top lid holes; Temp control isn’t accurate.
This works by sending air up the center hole to the top lid – and then sucks it down and in through the plates.
The problem is the lid has far too many holes and too much hot air escapes.
The hottest it generally gets on max is 135-140F. And that is empty
Covering all but one hole it will get to 167 in one test.
The temp control may be high or low – so if you care – then use an accurate temp probe to test.
I modified by covering most of each hole with kapton take (a high heat hobby tape).
Pro: The power as measured with an accurate meter is 267 watts consistently. Essentially their 280 rating.
Con: The platter holes are particularly large – too large for ground or cut herbs.
Suggestion: These https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0876LPGL have a perfect sized center hole. I sharpie scribe the outer profile (using a platter) and cut it out. These tuck into the corners and are nice and flexible.
Summary: Good only if you really need a compact dehumidifer – and then you’ll spend $12 on sheets and need to plug top holes.
Recommendation: If size isn’t an issue get the Nesco Snackmaster. Works as advertised without mods etc.
